Staying at Cino Fabiani Guesthouse was one of many pleasant memories of our two nights in Guayaquil. We loved the atmosphere, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location in the Las Penas neighborhood was super. The guesthouse is furnished in an eclectic and retro style, and the main common room has served as a small theatre in the past, so has the remnants of a stage. There is indeed a theatrical feel to the space. The location is in a historic neighborhood that is super for walking, and accessible to the hilltop where you can gain a sweeping view of the city and river. It is also near a sort of urban renewal area along the river where we found some good restaurants. It is only a ten-minute taxi ride from the airport. The guesthouse is not air-conditioned, and bathrooms are shared, so maybe it would not suit everyone, but my husband, son, and I were glad that we stayed at this lodging.

We choose this guesthouse for its location and it was indeed great to be close to both the beautiful old area of Los Penas and also just a very short walk from the northern end of the Malecon. The building is old so if things like sloping and creaky timber floors bother you this is not the place for you. There was some street noise but it was not too bad and we slept well.. We had an early flight so staff left our breakfast ingredients so that we could cook our own breakfast in the communal kitchen before normal breakfast time. Share bathrooms were large and clean (but old) and had good hot showers. Overall good value for the price we paid. I would stay again.

Although the staff were very kind, the room was unacceptable. The tangerine room opens to the dinning, reception, hangout area. The historic construction is such that there are inch sized gaps in the door window and wall openings so there is no sound isolation. The stereo that runs from 10-10pm has its speaker about 4' from your head in bed like it's in the room with you. It felt like we were sleeping in someone's living room with 20 other guests walking through and chatting all day and night. And you've got to walk across this crowd to get to the bathroom in another building. We asked for another room but they cold not accommodate the request. not bad people, but I'd never stay again.

We enjoyed the hotel for it's unique ,artistic and funky appearance,it's high ceilings, and unusual open rock wall seating area. It was a feast for the eyes . However the bathrooms were a disappointment. They certainly need an overhaul and a good cleaning.

Location is the best in this city. Very walkable. I stayed half in the dorm and the other half in a private room. I recommend a private room 100%. Dorm wasn't that comfy- it was on the ground floor, loud because of the street, and no screens (I got ate alive by mosquitoes - through 40% deet). Hotel staff are SUPER nice. The girls offered me their own products to help with the mosquito bites. Breakfast is good & wifi is pretty fast for South America. I recommend staying in the private rooms. It's a little more but honestly you WONT regret that you upgraded. The house is amazing and has a lot of history. By far this is prob the best place and value in the city. There is a great cafe bar next door that I went to alone and absolutely LOVED ( the owner recommended it). Airport is super close- I recommend this place the most of what I saw when I came in and out of Guayaquil as my layover to Galapagos. Get a private room- they are amazing

I loved my one night in the attic of this hotel. The staff was very helpful and kind. The atmosphere was wonderful and the neighborhood beautiful. This place has more of an eclectic, hippy, traveler kind of vibe. If you are looking for a 4 star, wait on you hand and foot, everything new and shiny kind of place; then this is NOT the place for you. However, if you want an interesting environment, where you will be able to meet other travelers, in a social atmosphere; then you will not be disappointed at all.

The house is an old house in the oldest street in Guayaquil. It has a lot of character & charm but it is an old house. There is no air conditioning but fans are provided. Bring your soap and shampoo. The breakfast was good with excellent coffee. Arnoldo is great. He oriented us to the places that were safe and where to stay away from. He also gave us a good recommendation for dinner. The immediate area is very safe and it is adjacent to the Malecon.

Two of us paid to stay one night in Guayaquil before returning to the United States. The hotel proprietor, Arnaldo, let us stay in our room for seven hours past normal checkout time with no extra charge; our return flight was at night. The people at this hotel are very kind, and really made our time in Guayaquil pleasant and memorable. When we arrived, Arnaldo gave us a quick tour of the area outside the hotel, and suggested places to go and things to see. We had a very large room with a view of the street and comfortable beds. The free breakfast was also nice.
