THSR pass is easy to redeem and use, and definitely cheaper if we were to buy the ticket separately in Taiwan. Once redeem providing have booked reserved seat at the time of redemption, no need to queue at the ticket counter. If have not reserved the seat, can catch any train leaving at different time (with interval of 15 or 20 minutes). A good pass to travel from day trip from Taipei to Kaohsiung/Tainan or Taipei to Taichung.

Queue up at the designated counter "Today / Advanced Ticket" and show proof of purchase along with your passport. The HSR officer can speak English fluently, so there is no need to hesitate and worry. I recommend "Reserved Seat" every time you want to travel. So there is no need to fight over benches in "Unreserved Seat" cars, which are generally Car 10-12.

It was fun using thsr unlimited pass. We are always making a booking for a seat because it's a holiday time. It was easy and fast in the line of booking seat in ticket counter. You need to bring passport. We used it for several city and 2 times a day. Very convenient.
