From the start of the ascent, climbers will see the magnificent crater complex of Mount Papandayan surrounded by high cliffs. The plumes of smoke and bubbling sulfur water show how active this mountain is. The pungent smell of sulfur from the crater is actually the main attraction. Rest posts are also quite comfortable with the establishment of several local stalls to Gober Hut Camping Ground, after about 1.5 hours of climbing. Hikers can see a huge avalanche that once cut through the main trail. Then also pass a beautiful small river with fresh mountain water. The camp site, Pondok Saladah, is no less interesting. Here there is an area that is also overgrown with Eidelweiss flowers, and there is also an abundant source of water. Pondok Saladah overlooks a beautiful towering hill. On a sunny morning, this hill looks very nice in the sun. Just a few hundred meters from Pondok Saladah Camping Ground lies the famous Dead Forest area. These dead trees do give a somewhat mystical atmosphere, but their beauty is almost second to none. Here also climbers can see the beauty of the sun rise. With such beauty, who would not fall in love with Mount Papandayan? Many novice climbers become addicted to climbing because of Mount Papandayan. However, of course the climbers must also learn about how to love climbing properly and correctly. The climbers must be really aware of maintaining the cleanliness of the mountain and maintaining its sustainability;
