Once the downtown area of 16th-century Batavia, Kota Tua ("Old Town") is filled with historical buildings from the Dutch colonial era. Some of these colonial buildings have been transformed into cafes or museums such as the Jakarta History Museum and Bank Indonesia Museum. The area can be easily explored on foot, but visitors can also get around by renting colorful antique bicycles or visiting several historical places on a guided cycling tour.
