Introduction

Chiang Khan is a small town in Loei, one of the Northeast Thailand provinces. It is a very peaceful town with many old buildings that have been adapted to be guest houses, coffee shops, and souvenir shops. Travelers can hire a bicycle and ride around the town visiting all attractions.

Things to do in Chiang Khan

The morning monk offering; Monk offering is an important activity for Theravada Buddhists in Thailand. In Chiang Khan’s walking street you will see a lot of Buddhist monks receiving alms from locals and tourists.

Watch the sea of ​fog in Phu Tok; This small mountain offers you a wonderful view of town, river and surrounding mountain and in the morning you will get to see a sea of fog covering all the surrounding and the beautiful rising sun.

Taking a walk at the Mekong river front; It is a good place for taking a walk with a calm atmosphere and you can enjoy the view of the river and forests.

Wat Si Khun Mueang; This ancient temple is one of the important religious places of local people. It was influenced by Lanna and Lan Chang styles

Walking street; In the morning, you will see the monk offering but in the night this walking street is turned into a lively night market with many shops and restaurants.

Tai dam village; In this place you will experience the lifestyle of the Thai Dam who migrated here from Vietnam in the early twentieth century.

Travel Restrictions

Loei is now open for all foreigners and all passengers must comply with the following conditions:

Travelers must register for the Certificate of Entry (COE) issued by the Embassy and must have a certificate of vaccination from the country of origin (Certificate of Vaccination).
Travelers must have negative documents for COVID-19 presented by RT-PCR method from Day 0 and travelers who stay for a period of 7 nights of the trip and a second RT-PCR negative test for COVID-19 must be performed during the 6-7 days of stay.
