NAIA lies in Pasay and Parañaque, about 7 km south of Manila proper and close to the Makati business district.
NAIA currently operates three main passenger terminals, numbered 1 to 3, which are separate buildings. Terminal assignments change from time to time, so check your booking.
The terminals are not linked on foot. Use the inter-terminal shuttle buses, and allow enough time for check-in and security at your next terminal.
Philippine Airlines and PAL Express are based at NAIA, and Cebu Pacific and Philippines AirAsia also have major operations here.
It honours Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., who was assassinated at the airport in 1983. The airport took his name in 1987.
Most travellers use taxis, ride-hailing apps or airport buses. Journey times depend heavily on Manila traffic, so allow extra time, especially at peak hours.
Day-to-day operation and maintenance of NAIA is handled by New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation, a private consortium, under a government concession.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), usually called NAIA, is the main international gateway to the Philippines and the primary airport for Metro Manila. It is named after Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., who was assassinated at the airport in 1983. You may still hear it referred to simply as Manila Airport or Manila International Airport.
The airport's operations and maintenance are now handled by New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation, a private consortium, under a concession from the government.
NAIA straddles the cities of Pasay and Parañaque, about 7 km south of Manila proper and southwest of the Makati business district. Being so close to the city is convenient, but Metro Manila's traffic means even short journeys can take a while.
NAIA has several separate terminals that are not joined by walkways:
Airlines have been reassigned between terminals more than once, so always check the terminal printed on your booking. Shuttle buses run between terminals for connecting passengers.
Philippine Airlines and its regional arm PAL Express use NAIA as their main hub, while Cebu Pacific and Philippines AirAsia keep major bases here. A wide range of foreign carriers also serve Manila, including Singapore Airlines, Korean Air, Emirates and Qatar Airways. From NAIA you can reach dozens of domestic destinations as well as cities across Asia, the Middle East and beyond.
Airport taxis, metered taxis and ride-hailing apps operate at every terminal. Point-to-point and city buses connect NAIA with hubs across Metro Manila. The NAIA Expressway and Skyway system link the terminals to the elevated road network, which can save time towards Makati and southern Luzon.
Close to the airport you will find the entertainment complexes of the Manila Bay area. Further north, Intramuros, the historic walled city, sits beside Rizal Park and Manila Bay, whose sunsets are famous. Makati and Bonifacio Global City are the go-to districts for dining and shopping.
Traffic is the main challenge, so leave early and give yourself extra time at peak hours. If you are transferring between a domestic and an international flight, check both terminals and allow time for the shuttle and security again.
