My wife and I really enjoyed our private room and the hostel. Our room was clean (though a bit cold at times), shower was clean with good pressure. Unfortunately my wife got sick while we were staying here and we didn't get to fully enjoy the hostel and Calafate. However, the staff were really helpful with helping us setup tours and also always asked about her condition.
The hostel is about a 15 minute walk to the city center, however, it is a easy walk and we felt safe walking around there at night.
I would recommend this place and will stay here again if we are in El Calafate.

I had such a lovely time staying here! The staff was incredibly want and helpful, the location was perfect (got dinner each night from a restaurant right across the street), and the space had everything I needed. Will definitely be staying here again should I return to Patagonia.

Super clean and comfortable basic room with a tub! Standard carbohydrate Chilean breakfast. But super staff and very very nice common areas. I really like it. Walls are thin but the location is quiet, so no noise unless its your neighbors. I would definitely stay again.

This hotel is old and basic. Some areas are in poor shape, there was water damage, it has poor insulation and it got very hot, there was no AC or even enough fans for individual rooms. Employees cannot do much for their guests because the multiple problems have been reported many times and repairs are not made.

We enjoyed our stay at Posta Sur. We arrived later in the evening, but the Reception staff were on hand and were very helpful. Initially our room had a few issues - it was a Twin rather than the Double we had ordered, and had a faulty door and power socket - but these were promptly remedied once we had reported the same. The breakfast was good, common areas very pleasant, and the Wi-Fi reached the room we were staying in. The room itself was spacious, a nice design, and the shower and bath were good. The room was a little hot, but this didn't spoil our enjoyment. The hotel laundry was very over-priced, but we just went into town instead (itself a downhill 5-10 min walk away). We felt the room offered good value for money.

Very nice lobby and common area. Room is clean but it’s hot. We had to open the street facing windows to cool. A fan would be nice. Breakfast is average. Breads were not fresh. Second day I had diarrhea after breakfast. I suggest not eating at the hotel. It could ruin your experience if you are going to a tour.

Good location as only about 5-6 minutes' walk to the centre but the path to the road is rough and steep. No good if mobility not great. Overall a decent hotel at a good price with a plentiful breakfast. Though too many cakes for my waistline. Nice linen and towels though I feel mattress protectors are essential. Biggest drawback is dreadful WiFi. This is so necessary in 2017.

So like many travellers these days I need to stay connected when I travel. A big part of that is having WiFi obviously. I must have wasted about three hours (over the course of two days...) trying just to get connected. The WiFi didn’t work in the rooms, and when I asked why there were problems reception said it’s because a lot of people were trying to connect. The “lot” of people was around ten. I deliberately search for ‘free wifi’ when I’m making a booking and it was so frustrating not to have what I thought I’d paid for.
Anyway - rant over. Aside from the above this was a good hotel. Service was good, breakfast was decent with some options and it’s a close walk into the centre of town only around five minutes before you start hitting the Main Street. So if WiFi isn’t a problem for you then this is a good option.

We had booked for one night on either end of a trip down to Torres del Paine for some backpacking. We cancelled our second night and went down the street to a hostel, which we preferred and cost much less. This hotel is perfectly acceptable, but lacks soul. It has potential, but we found the staff a bit slow to respond (almost no English language skills, which is okay by us, but something to be aware of) and the environment was not warm. Perhaps most upsetting is that they have a sign posted that their credit card machine is temporarily out of service. I have read reviews from years ago that say the same. I find this deceptive, particularly since when booking online one expects a certain standard of payment options. Overall, not worth the $70-$90 US they generally charge.

Everything in this place is just OK. But we have a big issue with wifi. they should not advertise free wifi. Wifi did not work in our rooms and in their lobby it is just very very very very slow that you cannot even use it.

We just returned from Argentina. The staff at this place is amazing! We spoke very little Spanish but somehow we were able to get our needs met. Taxis, excursions, dinner reservations...they handled it all. My husband left an envelope filled with cash in the dining room. Within 5 minutes it was returned to us. It's not the Ritz Carleton but for the money, it was perfect. We would stay there again.
