Great hotel. Amenities are short since you’re on an island. They provide shuttle service which is nice but you need to be patient with them.

The scenery is unmatched. The accommodation provides privacy and a quiet space. Every morning, I looked forward to waking up so that I could eat their amazing breakfast; everything was fresh: the fruits, the juices, etc. The majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. My only criticism is that the wifi did not reach our room. When we wanted to use the wifi, we would have to leave the room in order to get any decent signal. Overall we loved our stay.

Fabulous location in the forest, with the village of Abraao a short boat ride away. Friendly and helpful staff with good food options on site. My only complaint was that the hot water in the shower wasn’t always hot, but that aside, the hotel and our stay were excellent. Highly recommended.

The hotel does not justify the price. The view is stunning, but the hotel’s standard is really not. The room is poorly maintained; brown-tinted water comes out of the toilet and sink, and the power outlets and light switches are loose. Breakfast was good with a decent variety. Dinner and the bar were good as well. Every time you leave the hotel, you need to coordinate transportation by boat, and the walking path toward the village is very unstable and poorly maintained. I don’t know who gave them a 4 stars, not even 2.5. I don’t think I would return there.

Wifi doesnt work in the room A/C barely works in the room Frequent power outages and wifi outages on the premises - the hotel will blame the island for this, but there seemed to be no issues when we visited the main pier They will charge you for EVERYTHING: - umbrellas - ponchos - taxi boat to and from the main pier (you cannot easily walk there as it is flooded) The list goes on this is just what i vividly recall. We paid more for this hotel than a 5* luxury in Party. If i could re book my honeymoon i would jurt have gone to Paraty for longer. The only reason this is not 1* is because the manager we spoke to was good. That aside, if you are looking for a romantic getaway this is NOT your place. manager was good and the room

If you're looking into the reviews to decide coming here or not - Please book some other nice pousada and use the rest of your money on cool activities in the Island! The view is amazing. Their kitchen is also very good. This is not worth the premium price they charge. They will charge for every little convenience (water, umbrella, transport to the island, wtc). They say their reception is available and leave you with no answer for hours (during their working hours). They will try to push very overpriced boat rides that you can get the same in the Island for 1/3 of the price. Overall, the feeling I have after staying there a couple of nights is of being scammed. Just get a nice pousada for half the price and use the money to get more out of Ilha Grande's experiences.

Overall we were happy with our stay, however if we return to Ilha Grande we probably wont stay here again. The main reasons for this were poor communication and value for money. Regarding communication, as an example, we booked a boat pick up from the property for 10am to take us to a beach. We were told that morning that the boat will arrive between 10 and 10:20am. Despite being ready on time, the boat had left without us and we had to wait a further 45 minutes for another. Also, we were told if we wanted to be picked up Abraao town to go back to the property or vice versa, we had to WhatsApp reception. We did this one evening and got no response despite asking twice for confirmation of whether the boat was going to come. Fortunately it did, however the lack of a response was frustrating. Regarding value for money, we expected the room to be decorated nicer than it was, and also found additional charging annoying e.g. you are charged for the boat transfer into the town, per person, for each way. This was strange considering the price we were paying per night was fairly high, and the alternative was to hike 25 minutes which depending on the time of day, requires you to wade through water. Lastly, we were also Expedia VIP members so expected to recieve our free drink, however this was never mentioned and we never recieved it. On a positive note, the property was very clean, breakfast was good, and the view from the room was lovely.

If we could stay here longer, we would!! Truly look no further, this is the best hotel with the cutest rooms, perfect views, great food, and wonderful staff. With walkable paths to the beach and to the downtown area (along with private water taxis for transportation if you don’t want to walk), everything was perfect. This was hands down our favorite stop on our honeymoon. I know it will be just as special for anyone who visits!

Asalem is a great place to relax. Very friendly, great views, quiet. Problem for people that have issues with stair climbing as located on a hill and to get to rooms steep stairs have to be dealt with. Bungalows are beautiful and on 2 levels. To get to main bedroom again steep staircase. Bathroom is on lower floor so if you have to get up at night starir case awaits to get to bathroom. Besides the stairs the hotel is great. You have to take ship from Concecao 15 mins or from angra dos reis 50 mins to abraao on the island a d call hotel for boat pickup as you cannot walk to hotel with heavy luggage. The hotel boat could be better. I rate the stay as excellent as the views, the friendliness of the personnel and the hiking and beach options are really great

Perhaps the best hotel at Ilha Grande. Located away from Abrao. 5 min by hotel boat taxi, cost 20 BRL (4 USD) during the day hours and 40 BRL (8 USD) when it is dark, i.e. after 6pm. Walking is impossible for much of the time as the pathway is frequently flooded. Make sure you call/send whatsapp message to the reception in advance about your trips there and back. There is normally one trip every hour. The boat is quite small and at the beginning hard to identify but after a while you get used to it. Location away from Abrao is good for some if one needs a quiet secure place and a disadvantage if you need some more life around but then again using the boat helps in getting a good balance of everything. The property itself is very good, comfortable, the views are stunning. The staff members are very helpful. Regarding Ilha Grande I had a tour around some beaches, which was not bad. However if you wish to visit the best place then forget other beaches and go Lopes Mendes. Getting there is a quest but worth it: you first go by water taxi to Pouso beach (located in inner lagoon, no big waves) and then walk 20 min through the forest. One could walk all the way from Abrao but that is then few hours. The beach closer to sunset is really stunning. Overall, great experience at Ilha Grande. Thanks a lot.
