The room was spacious, however the bed was hard (expected this from previous hotel visits throughout Asia) and the room was not very sound proof as I was woken several times by noisy neighbours in other rooms. Nice selection of foods at breakfast - both western and Chinese, and laundry was same day service and very cheap for what I had cleaned. Hotel was also within easy walking distance of most tourist attractions within Guilin. Some staff spoke English, however was able to communicate without a problem to other staff members. Only major issue was the wi-fi as it could be slow at times especially when trying to use apps such as google and whatsapp.

As everyone has said before me, the BEST thing about this hotel is it's location. It is where EVERYTHING you want to see in Guilin city is. Once you check in, you can walk to every major landmark or tourist spot, theater, as well as the night market, bars, restaurants, cafes, etc...it has everything right outside the front door. My experience with service in the hotel was quite good- they took care of all my issues, though we had difficulty communicating, as I spoke no Mandarin. Smiling service is not their forte- but they were prompt at responding to any issues that I had. The AC worked well, the bed was clean and comfortable, the shower was hot, there were slippers, hair dryer, soap, tooth brush, kettle, Wifi. They even had outlets that fit my US devices. Flat screen TV with lots of Mandarin channels. My room did not have a safe but it was updated and was quite a contrast with the corridors and public spaces...those looked really worn and tired. The cleanliness standard is so-so. If you want that, you can book the Sheraton next door. Though there were mainly families staying at the hotel, cards with pictures of women on them were slid under my door every evening. I did not witness any such encounter. The breakfast was quite sumptuous, especially if you enjoy traditional local cuisine...cold and fried noodles, dumplings, sausages, sauteed veggies, toast, juice, watermelon, etc The rooftop restaurant where it is served has some good views of the Li River and Elephant Hill.

The hotel is conveniently located at restaurants and pier. Rooms are okay but hallways and dining area needs renovation. Their carpets are very old and dusty. The night staff reception is not very polite and is a bit rude.

GREAT location in Guilin! We took the large suite overlooking the river and incredible view's. The 2 story suite is well worth the cost, but does not include breakfast. Other than the room, we found the place run down, the food tolerable, and the staff perfunctory. If I had to do it again, I'd take this hotel if nothing else was available.

The staff was really friendly, and the location was great. That's all this place had going for it. There is no gym, no restaurant, and no spa. There were also quite a few bugs in our room, and used soap from previous guests. I would find a different place if I went back.

This is a chinese run hotel and it shows. First, the lobby: not heated, so the staff members have to wear a jacket all the time. No English spoken, which I am ok with as long as we can communicate to a certain extent. I was unable to use my credit card to leave a deposit, it did not work and this is the only hotel in China where I had such problem, still a minor issue and I left a cash deposit. The young lady at the tour desk was asleep on the desk(!!) when we passed by, so we decided to go elsewhere to book our Li river trip. The room was ok. It was not a great room, but not bad either. You could see that the bathroom had been redone recently, but the craftsmanship was very much below standard. Also, do not plan on using the television unless you can read chinese caracters, because the remote and the information on how to use it is written in chinese only. Same with the A/C-heating unit, very hard to work with because you do not really know what happens when you press a button. The bed was the hardest we encountered while in China, I have never seen a bed that hard. Also, in the morning while checking out, we asked for help getting a cab because there was none waiting outside. The young girl at the desk basically told us to get out and to hail one in the street. Not very helpful or professionnal. We crossed the street and ask for help at the Sheraton, and they helped us out. So for the same price, I would recommend the Sheraton instead.

The hotel is in a handy location close to the river, shops and eating places. When we arrived the check-in procedure was drawn out because initially no-one could speak English and from what we could gather there appeared to be a mix-up with our booking. Finally an English speaking supervisor came over and communicated briefly with us in English but then left the remaining check-in process to his staff. He appeared to be disinterested.

This is an older hotel but the location is excellent. Right across the street is the Li River with Elephant's Trunk Hill and the Twin Pagodas within walking distance. We were able to upgrade our room with the help of the friendly and professional manager. Our room had a nice balcony and a big bathroom.

The room was clean and adequate as a base for a weekend Li River cruise trip. The room and corridors were rather dark (unable to read in bed) and the shower head was loose and floppy, though I was able to coax it into place. Very hard bed, but I found that to be common in other comparable hotel reviews. Unfortunately, as I only speak English, I found the front desk less than helpful with a simple local call in Chinese to confirm a hotel pickup by tour bus the next morning. I had to go across the street to another hotel where they were most gracious with some assistance in solving my minor problem.
