We had a great week at Riu Palace. We enjoyed the pools, andvthe beach as well. The Lounge 24 and Cappucinos were hidden gems, nice spots for some peaceful relaxation. The staff were all friendly, attentive and professional at all times. Even the merchants selling their goods on the beach were respectful, not pushy at all. I would definitely recommend this resort as a go to destination.

My husband and I went for our honeymoon. I must say that the property was absolutely beautiful! Filled with beautiful, tall palm trees, luscious green grass, and surrounded by high mountain peaks. We even observed the different monkeys in the trees from our balcony. They had several different pools as well as water slides. All the staff was very helpful, hospitable, and made you feel welcomed. The different restaurants had delicious food and drinks. They also have live entertainment. It had lot's of fun activities to do. We would definitely revisit Riu Palace Costa Rica again!! Thank you

Great amenities. Several Food options and quality of food was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful all the time. However, too long of a wait when ordering a a la carte from the restaurants at night. Kids land closed all the times we tried to go. Overall a great experience but I wouldn’t consider this a 5 star resort.

Hello, I am writing this complaint regarding my stay at RIU Palace in Costa Rica. I have been to several RIU resorts and this has by far been the worst experience. Normally when entering the resort we get greeted by staff by saying hello with a drink. This was not the case for this resort. The room had a horrible smell to it. It was so hard to sleep and get comfortable because we had no ac for 3 days which is just ridiculous. I have never been so uncomfortable and frustrated. There was supposed to be an all white party and it was canceled without it being announced. Me and seven other friends got all dressed in white with excitement just to be told it was canceled due to renovations. So we thought ok maybe we can head to the club in the resort and that was closed as well. We booked this resort specifically for these special events. For us to be blind sided was disappointing. There was plenty of space on the resort with two stages. Something could’ve been done to make up for the events that were canceled. There was no 24 hour bars like all the other resorts we have been to. After the swim up bar being closed at 6 there is absolutely nothing to look forward to. Not only did I feel I was forced to just stay in my room because they shut all the lights out at night in the lobby. My tv in my room didn’t work. With my experience I will most likely never visit a RIU resort again. Something need to happen a refund of some sort because this by far was the worst trip.

Arrival day: no air conditioning, no elevator near my room, and the toilet didn’t flush in my room! Everything was resolved by the next afternoon. No club and the lobby bar shut down at midnight, no music at the bar. False advertisement! Pools very nice! Food below average, just not good.

We recently stayed at this resort for a bachelorette party and had an overall enjoyable experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food exceeded our expectations. The pools were fantastic and provided a great time. Specially the adults pool. The resort itself is spacious and offers a wide variety of activities, and the entertainment team was especially engaging. Graiving was great! Our rooms were clean and spacious, which we appreciated, but they were somewhat outdated—particularly the TV and bathroom facilities. There was an unpleasant odor from the toilet, though the housekeeping staff kept everything else spotless. The air conditioning was not as strong as we would have liked, which may be something for future guests to keep in mind. We paid for Ocean View, but I wouldn't do it again in this hotel. It is not worth it. One disappointment was that two themed parties (Neon and White), which we were looking forward to, were canceled a week before our arrival. Unfortunately, we were not notified in advance, and this impacted our overall experience as it was a key reason for choosing this resort. In addition, we attempted to contact the hotel several times in the months before our stay but did not receive a response. We loved our time in Costa Rica and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality, food, and atmosphere. Overall, this hotel offers good value for the price, but there are areas that could benefit from updates and improved communication.

This was suppose to be good Birthday celebratory trip and this was the opposite. From having roaches and mold in my room. No A/C for the first two days with temperatures as high as 95 degrees. Spotty Wifi. Elevator not working at times, electricity going in an out. I am highly disappointed with this resort.

The Riu Palace is a beautiful hotel but there were too many issues that occured. For starters the Riu Guanacaste next door is undergoing construction and you hear noise depending what side of the hotel you're on i was told this construction will be a year long. Second they had constant electrical and plumming issues. The night of May 1,2025 the electricity went out for an hour and when it came back on there was no air conditioning. The entire hotel had no air conditioning until the evening of May 3rd, 2025 and the days were almost 100°F. Then on May 4th the toilet plumbing was out for the day and the entire place smelled like mold and sewage. This was my birthday trip and my spouse planned it and was stuck between Riu and Planet Hollywood. During an excursion we met sone people staying there and said the hotel is fully renovated. We should have stayed there. I asked about compensation for the inconvenience especially since emphysema so its sometimes hard to breathe in the heat and i could have passed out multiple times. But i was ignored and they say they dont do that. Worst resort in Costa Rica.

This place was awful. I would not come back for free. Our 1st room smelled so bad of mildew they used over powering chemicals to cover up the odor, we had to move after a long day of travel. Second room still smelled of Mildew, but a little less. They gave me two rooms to check and I picked the one that smelled less. Then the AC broke for two nights and the mildew smell became unbearable. I thought about moving again and one room smelled just as bad and the second one was above the stage where it was going to be super noisy. I wasted so much time trying to find a spot that doesn’t smell. My friend got lucky and her room did not smell. The food is terrible. You can find stuff to eat that is OK, but you’re not gonna be excited about much. The restaurants fill up early and then your only dinner option is the buffet. The booze is bottom shelf. Cheap wine. Only pluses are the staff are super nice and the pools and grounds are pretty.

When we arrived and gained access to our room, our room was not clean. The bed sheets and desks had stains and was not properly cleaned. Thankfully, we’re able to get another room. This room was cleaner but still had its flaws. The main issue was that the AC did not work properly. The food at the property was not very good. There is not a nightlife around the Hotel, which was an issue because I was celebrating a birthday. The property needs to be updated

Cons: The property needed to be update. All furnitures in the room are old and damaged. No lounge chairs, no services of any kind from the resort at the beach. AC was not running well and broke down so the whole resort has no AC at all at the last day. Not much activities going on at nighttime. If you go early to the ones that more upscale restaurants that only serves dinner, they didn’t turn on the AC ahead of opening time so it was so hot inside we were sweating so much to the point of leaving the restaurant before my foods even made it to the table. Same types of foods everyday at the buffets. Pros: The best thing that we love about this resort is the staffs. They were so kind, friendly and went out of their way to please the guests. They worked so hard and kinda sad that not many guests left any tips for their great services. The foods at the 2 buffets were surprisingly good.

First time at the Riu. Outdated, pool was not very clean, there were things floating in the pool. No top shelf liquor, considering how expensive it is to stay at this resort. I have definitely stayed at better resorts, with top shelf liquors for a more reasonable price. Room pillows had stains, and bed was uncomfortable. Could not eat at the restaurants, since it was rented out for a private party. Sadly, that’s what guests pay for, they should be accommodated to have those options. Staff was friendly, but this hotel would not be an option to stay at in the future.
