Burton Stone Inn

Michael and his wife were the perfect hosts providing a lovely accommodation. We stayed in room 11 which was beautifully decorated, spacious, clean and with all ammenities. The dining and bar areas were great and very clean. As room 11 in on the ground floor and street side you will get traffic noise throughout the night but otherwise very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic, fresh and plenty of variety. Parking was convenient and location to the old town excellent. Also plenty of eating options nearby.

I would not say healthy , but the full breakfast was delicious except for tinned tomatoes which appear to be part of English breakfast but are not my thing. Fruit and yogurt available which was good.

Very nice room in great condition. Walls were very thin however, you could clearly hear your neighbours without them being loud at all. Fantastic staff, very friendly and helpful.

You will enjoy your stay The accommodation is very good. Distance by foot to the main area around Yorkminster is a pleasant 10 - 15 minutes stroll. It seems an ideal location. Breakfast not taken & no other food available. Parking is chargeable, which caused a concern for me as I had been led to believe it was free. It depends on the method used to book. Not a deal breaker, the owners & staff are helpful. Well worth consideration for your stay.

Lovely stay in this Inn. Very nice owners and we liked the location -- just a short walk to downtown or the train station. We did not take the breakfast, but it looked very good. The only consideration is if you have limited mobility and get the room we had on the top floor, there is no lift or elevator. Otherwise, we recommend this Inn for it's location, owners, and value.

Felt like a cozy bed and breakfast !

Lovely well appointed room. Very friendly staff. Cleaned nicy every day. Stayed for 5nts. Did not use the bar or have the breakfast. Plenty of parking even for our oversized rental multi van. Slight issue with the toilet flush, but was rectified. Approx 15 min walk into central York. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Room was quiet, bed was v comfortable. We stayed in room 10 - a family room. Very spacious.

Excellent stay with wonderful hosts. Breakfast was wonderful. Located centrally for walking to all major sites in York.

I wish I could give 100/10. The Burton Stone Inn has the kindest staff—George and Aaron were two standouts. They were helpful and welcoming. The location was prime as it was tucked into a quieter area but an easy scenic stroll to everything! The room was cute and everything we could need! I’ll be recommending this Inn to everyone—and will be sure to be back!

This hotel was a bit on the worn side. Our room was spacious, yet looked pretty beat. The beds were comfortable and the location was quiet. Beware that there is no elevator and the 3rd floor is accessible only by a narrow and steep staircase…. The manager was very friendly and mentioned that they offer breakfast, but we chose to eat outside.

The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and flexible. The Inn is ideally located for York, just a ten minute walk in. I would highly recommend staying here and should I be lucky enough to return to York, this is where I would book again.

Second stay at The Burton Stone, another very warm welcome from Aggie and Michael, nothing too much trouble. Room 1 bright, attractively decorated, clean and plenty hot water. Breakfast superb, plenty of choice. Parking at rear of property, allowed to leave car before and after checking in/out.

The inn is a cute old listed building situated close to York city centre, so walking is definitely the way to get around. We followed the advice we received from staff and saw all the sites we wanted to visit, and more. Our room was very comfortable, if a little cramped with our large bags, and getting these up the stairs presented a challenge. We started each day with a huge, nicely presented breakfast chosen from a wide range of dishes. We would definitely stay again and heartly recommend Burton Stone to other travellers.

Very beautifully decorated room and very friendly host. Short walk to directly to the city centre and nice shops, cafes, etc. along the way. There is a bit of traffic and noise from the road, but I slept very well, and would ask for a room on the garden side if there's a need for more quiet. Would stay there again and recommend.

Arrived on the car park and was greeted by the owner. We were taken to our room which was a family room and very spacious. The bathroom and bedroom were exceptionally clean. The hotel was within walking distance to the centre of York so no need to use the car again until we left .. bonus!!

The hotel was a short walk from the beautiful downtown of York. Breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly.
