Lovely hotel, great location in the centre of town. Staff were happy to take our bags, when we arrived well ahead of check in, in fact all the staff whether in reception, breakfast or in the bar were polite and professional. Thought the rooms were excellent and very comfortable, huge comfy beds and spotless. Just enjoyed the layout of the hotel very relaxing with a nice atmosphere, overall an excellent stay and will definitely be back.

Room not cleaned after first night - are these rooms forgotten because they are not in the main hotel? Breakfast - TBC - Location of hotel in York - Perfect! 20 min. Walking distance from York Central Train Station. LV coming to York - Great Christmas Atmosphere - Markets, Lights & Cathedral Bells.

Staff was lovely and the location is great. Apart from that, the room we've stayed in was quite dreadful. Mold on the walls, shower held together by glue, heating not working, scratched up headboard... Clearly not up to standards.

Dropped the bags off at 1pm, huge queue to do so and only 1 staff member on desk, apparently there was staff sickness. This took 30 mins of waiting. Arrived back to hotel 530pm to check in, waited 40 mins in the queue to do so, as yet again, only 1 staff member. Really difficult as my daughter is autistic and very unregulated. There was noone extra to tell and i would have lost my place in the queue. Finally got room key, Dropped off bags and went tp bar for a drink. Terrible mistake. We were next in lone and the bar was quiet when we arrived. The ladies in front ordered a few drinks then the computer stopped working when they were trying to pay. During this 10 minutes, severl men arrived at the other side of the bar. When finished, the young male bartender went on to serve all the men waiting, even though me and my 11 year old daughter had been waiting 25 minutes at this point. It was disgusting, i honestly felt invisible, which I wasn't as my daughter was shouting out and stimming for everyone to see, yet we were still ignored, im guessing because im a woman. Terrible service and very disappointed when i had paid very close to £300 for one night!

It certainly wasn’t a “deluxe” room. What we paid for a perfectly average room with a big bed. The room was somewhat dismal and dark with very poor lighting. There was 1 bathrobe (for 2 of us) no shower gel, the shaving light didn’t work in the bathroom. They only had one member of staff on reception on a busy Saturday near Christmas for everyone trying to check in , which left a rather long queue through the entrance foyer (same happened at checkout) Just a very expensive “average” hotel. Not really what you’d expect from a “Hilton” in our opinion.

If you’re looking for a cheap hotel in a convenient location then this is a great hotel. Unfortunately the parking at the hotel is nonexistent and £25 per night. The shower in our bathroom turned the floor into a swimming pool, the carpets were stained with an unknown substance and the room hasn’t been updated since the Romans were last here.

Staff were great, but didn't enjoy the room. Bathroom smelled of sewage so we didnt fancy drinking the tap water and shower door was broken so floor got very wet. Also thin walls so could hear everything from outside and upstairs. Lights in the room were very weak so it was hard to get ready at nighttime.

Friendly and helpful staff. Parking was pretty rubbish though, the car park only has a dozen or so spaces and getting a spot is pot luck, also a bit pricey at £25. The building itself is very big and beautifully decorated / furnished. Had a very nice stay. Although strange that check in is from 4pm, we have been to dozens of hotels and 3pm is generally check in time.

Few little things. When checking in we were told the room number but not told where to go for breakfast or where to go for our room. For our room We were just told to turn right when going through the doors which would of taken us to the road. When in actual fact it was the building opposite the hotel entrance. It would of helped if he just said that wand what the building was called. Then when we eventually found our room the heating just blowed out cold air. So all we had was a little electric heater. So the room was cold most of the time. Also the shower leaked, the water was spurting out the showerhead over the floor, so had to have a bath everytime. Just things that should be checked i think before a room is available.

Checked in fine, was told to come back at 4:00 when the room was ready, went back at 4, got told it would be 10 minutes and got asked to sit in the bar and wait for someone to come and get us. 16:45 no one come, went to desk, still messaging about, gone 17:00 by the time we got to our room. Heating unit noisy, blood stains on the or ironing board. Asks for a late check out to return to the room at 12:00 to the cards not working. Poor experience
