Holiday Inn DERBY - RIVERLIGHTS, an IHG Hotel

Chose to dine at the Hotel on Saturday night instead of going out. Bad Decision. My wife ordered a Prawn Cocktail and Gammon Steak only to be told neither was available. Totally Unacceptable!!!

Second time staying at this hotel. Reception is still temporarily up on the 4th floor, accessible by lift. Very convenient city centre location. We were overlooking the bus station this time and could hear the busses with the window and curtains closed if you listened very carefully. The room we were in has recently been upgraded, but the new TVs are temperamental. They will cut out and drop the picture then state 'no signal' to which you have to turn over to a different channel and back again. We had this during our first visit to the hotel in a different room too - very annoying. Also, the shower doors leak badly, the seal in both rooms floods the floor badly. Reception staff have all been super friendly. They don't seem to serve soft drinks in pint sized glasses, just 'large' glasses which are smaller than pint glasses. Lovely finishing touches in rooms, for both stays. Christmas card at Christmas time and Valentines card in February. Will be returning here again.

Lovely Hotel, Great room, clean and tidy. Everything was good except Breakfast which was awful. Nothing left and had to wait for something to appear all at different times. So had half breakfast warm and to go back for the other half later. Fruit juices run out, coffee machine broke, no sugar. It just went from bad to worse. The staff were very apologetic but you just got fed up keep asking for things. Gave up in the end

Hairs on bed. Room not cleaned properly. Loud domestic staff on morning woke me up. Shouting outside while cleaning the adjacent room. Also knocked loudly on my door at 9:15am. Check in was slow and interrupted by theamager multiple times..

Had to wait 10 minutes for the manager so we could check in, apparently there were only 2 people working and 1 of them was the manager. This hotel was so much better when it was the Hampton ls. Rooms very basic. Cleaner knocked on the door around 10am wanting to clean.

Central location and easy time.

Very comfortable hotel room. Well equipped for a nights stay.

Mostly great except for the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night and the car park discount didn't work

Everything was a nice order. Did not realize there was a gym in the hotel. Receptionist was helpful only problem was the reception was on the 4th floor rather than ground floor. Bed were comfortable and housekeepers were around to keep the rooms tidy

The room was stunning with nice furniture and a decent bathroom (that didn't have a plug for the sink). Otherwise it was excellent. I was a shame the ovan broke of day of checkout so no hot food was available

The room was standard but ok. The heating was off and was freezing and took a long time to warm up. The hotel was very loud and guest shouting up the corriders at night. The reason we booked here was because breakfast was included. We were informed that all the ovens were broken and there was only cereal and bread and we got rushed out of the restaurant soon after.

Very large and modern rooms, very nice staff

Very pleasant staff. Very poor air conditioning. Had to have window open, but disturbed by noisy and pub and bus station throughout the night. Bed absolutely appalling - sinking in the middle and lumpy.
