Holiday Inn PETERBOROUGH - WEST, an IHG Hotel

We planned an impromptu 1 night stay on friday 28th March. Hotel was arrival was eventful as the access road is closed and thr diversion signs are completely wrong, taking you back into the centre of Peterborough. Once we ignored these the hotel was welcoming although the carpark signs indicate there will be a charge - which thrte was not. Our room was clean and well appointed, however appeared a little tired. The bath drain was slow as it was blocked with hair. There is a noisy extraction fan in the bathroom that could not be turned off. Very limited milks in the tea and coffee (two) so i had to go to reception to ask for more. No biscuits were provided. Walking from the hotel is not recommended due to the lack of street lighting. Breakfast was probably the best i have ever tasted. Poached eggs (perfectly cooked) were excellent. The porridge was water based - not recommended The worst part of the morning was when we visited the health spar. There were 4 other guests in the pool who felt they were intitled to prevent anyone else from using the facilities. They complained we had not showered before entering 'their' pool. We had showered in our room. My hair was still wet when i entered. I was physically assaulted as i swam and my wife was verbally insulted and told that the pool was full and she should leave. We complained to health spar management who indicated they would 'have a word' - not aware of what happened Overall experience spoiled a good weekend.

Very clean and comfortable room. Very polite and helpful staff. I can highly recommend it.

The hotel was generally fine but could do with more maintenance and refurbishment. We had to change room as the flush of the toilet was broken and other areas are outdated. Also, be aware of the expensing parking charge, even for overnight guests.

Good service overall and room was clean. Restaurant on site with a decent selection of options. Good choice at the bar but a little pricey. But £15 a night for parking? For well outside the city centre thats a little steep. Unfortunately the heating control in the room was broken, so it was constantly hot, I couldnt open the window due to the noise, and the aircon was switched off centrally, so that wasnt great. Aside from the room, the hotel was a little tired in places with heavily stained sofas and chairs, and little things that need fixing. Perhaps this was due to take place as the pool and spa facilities had shut for cleaning and maintenance leaving only the gym open. So overall average, but for the price charged for the room? Poor.

Shower didn’t work at all, bath trickled out told a member of staff and seemed very uninterested. £15 per night parking also which is a disgrace.

Really surprised to have to pay ab extra £15 to park in an out if town car park. Constant tapping sound from outside all night - I think from ropes tapping flag pole.

Great facilities

Have stayed in many holiday inns which have always been comfortable. This on the face if it was no different. However the window in the room was a singlepane sliding window in a metal frame which provided very little insulation. In the morning the window had condensation. dripping off it soaking the net curtains. Found the beds to be hard and pillows both soft and firm to be uncomfortable. Was reporterld to management who made the right noises but thats all. Stayed 1 night but will not be staying again. For the £140 for 1x night we expected better. Food and staff were ok though and rest of hotel clean and comfortable

Stayed at hotel before the only thing was that our room was not ready, after a wait l did have to ask for another room which they found.

The hotel was welcoming with Christmas decorations. There was a pool, gym, sauna and steam room. Sea bass for dinner. I told them the room was too hot and I couldn’t turn the radiator down. Next day radiator was off and there was a big fan in my room! A very good value place to stay if you need to spend time in Peterborough.

Hotel requires modernising. The room i was given was supposed to have a king siz bed. This was made up of 2 x single beds pushed together, with one slightly higher than then other, and you could feel the join. I may as well hae booked a single bed. The lamp didnt work so i was unable to work at the desk late on. The tv only had freeview channels and some if these did not work. The channels that did work had poor signal and kept going off. The toilet flush had to be manually brought back up and there was a dripping noise in the corner of the room. The evening special was a mexican buffet, which was not fit for eating. Many customers complained about the quality. Breakfast time, i had to pick through bowls as they has dried food on them. The milk provided for cereal was warm. Horrendous stay, and would not recommend.

Good overall

Having stayed here before, was disappointed to have to pay £15 this time for parking even as a hotel guest. Was disturbed at 6am by the noise of air-conditioning above swimming pool..not able to get back to sleep. Despite soundproof on details. Unfortunately will be choosing elsewhere next time.

Staff very helpful and friendly. Food was amazing. Clean inside and out.

We were not thrilled to learn of the unnecessary parking charge expected of guests for leaving a vehicle overnight. Anyone else, yes, but not paying guests. A member of bar staff was extremely slow and made the worse tasting hot chocolate but i was already in my room before realising how horrible it was. Reception staff were lovely and polite and very accommodating for my excessive tea drinking. The noise from roof fans outside our window was loud. There weren't any spare pillows in the room just duvets. The parking charge is seriously making us reconsider returning for our annual trip to this hotel.

Hotel room was very clean and comfortable perfect for our overnight stay. Breakfast had a good choice and well cooked and prepared. Only thing i was disappointed with was parking £15 even though im a blue badge holder.
