I don't normally write reviews ,but this was a very tired and shabby hotel with lots of updating required, the lift was in bad condition,in fact some guests preferred to use stairs rather than get in the lift, the welcome on arrival wasn't pleasant. Felt sorry for the young receptionist really.there were a few guests in reception area, not having been here before,I asked where the lift was, just got 2 words answer- without even looking at me-Behind you,was the answer, maybe she was having bad day, can't really say. there's a music bar just across from hotel, they played loud music all night ,then around 11pm till 3:30 in morning sounded like a band and crowd got very excitable, making it impossible to sleep, finally managed to doze off around 4am. Having stayed in lots of hotels,I can honestly say,I won't be returning to this one. Sorry for this review, but I'm very tired today, going home for a sleep

The hotel was cleaned well. I was comfortable . I got a small room. It would have been nice if there was a picture on the wall or something. The staff were helpful too.

This hotel is dilapidated. The staff really doesn't care. There was loud music until 3am. The windows don't open and it was hot. The elevator was very sketch. The only positive was that the beds and towels were clean. Find somewhere else if you can there have to be better options.

We checked in on the 21/7/26 at 17:00 for an over night stay on my daughter’s birthday,we also had my granddaughter age 10 with us. The man behind reception was rude and dismissive he hurriedly pushed a piece of paper towards me barking write yourhome address and sign. He pushed a door key card at me and snapped third floor. I didn’t catch the room number he said so I asked again which room number please? he wrote 317. We called for the lift when it came it smelled awful and there were buttons on the control panel missing broken mirror on one wall and dangerous trip issues with the floor. I was horrified to see the unkempt corridors filthy walls stained and dirty stained carpets. Dead flies above our bedroom door, the room number was missing the 3 just the 17 remained. On entering the room There was a terrible musty smell marks on the bathroom/room Floor, cigarette burn marks on the sides in the bathroom the carpet leading into the barhroom wasn’t fixed down and was a trip hazard. Also ripped carpet by the bed. The room had awful dust around the bed heads and hard surfeses. Due to the smell and the damaged chips in the walls plus one of the doors looked like it was dropped and broken the tiny window wouldn’t open properly. Due to the awful condition of the room this upset my daughter and granddaughter, I tried to ring reception and it just rang out. We had a meal booked so had leave. There wasn’t anyone at reception as we left so I desided to talk when I got back at 8

I had booked a double standard room for 2 adults and a 3 year old, I was told that most of the bedrooms had a bed settee. However ours didn’t, the receptionist said she could do nothing about it and there wasn’t any cots available nor any other rooms. However another member of staff offered me 3 single duvets 2 to lay on and. 1 for a cover So my bed for 2 nights was on the floor. The hotel Parking was full so I had to pay £12 in a council car park Having paid nearly £500 for 2 nights due to the golf I did expect something a little better than we were presented with not to be teleported back to the 1940s

Sadly, there is not much positive to say about our bed and breakfast stay in a double room at this hotel. We stayed over the Open weekend and you can imagine how increased the room rates were. The hotel is tired, filthy and noisy. The double room is so small, you can't get into the room without having to close the door first. The bed and mattress were the most uncomfortable. Headboard wasnt even attached to bed but just balancing against the wall. The shower hose was broken so water would be spraying everywhere when showering. And the bathroom door wouldn't shut properly. The breakfast was a joke - we were told they would serve it from 6am. We got there at 6.10am to breakfast food that was cold and an excuse that they had changed the time without telling staff so they weren't ready. The drinks machine didnt work and there were flies in the fresh fruit. We had breakfast at one of the nearby cafes the second morning - highly recommend that approach. Our room key randomly didnt work when we returned on the first day. It was fixed but no apology or explanation. Customer service was non existent. Except for the lovely lady at the front desk on Monday morning. Overall, we paid a small fortune and it was honestly the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. Not entirely sure how they can claim 3 stars. Location might be the only good thing about this hotel!

This is certainly the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. The whole area around the hotel is very rundown and scruffy. The reception staff were adequate. The lift was rickety. Our room was the smallest double room that we’ve ever stayed in and very basic. The bathroom was so small I could stand in the middle of it and reach all four walls without moving. The windows wouldn’t shut properly and were filthy. The hairdryer was missing. The hotel parking which can’t be reserved in advance was full even in the early afternoon. At 5am a very noisy generator started up outside our room which made it impossible to sleep. Breakfast was very poor. They had no orange juice and the coffee was undrinkable. The fried eggs were all hard and the only good thing was some fried bread. The proximity of the hotel to Royal Birkdale Golf Club and the Open Championship was the reason we were staying there. The cost of the room is normally about £80 per night but we had to pay £335. We certainly won’t be going back.

Awful hotel. Rooms in poor condition with no evidence of investment for many years. Not hot water first thing in the morning. Night club on one side of hotel and pub on the other. Both playing music until the early hours. Hotel staff did try & find alternative room for us but could only find double when twin needed so we left & found Premier Inn for rest of our trip. Speaking to staff the live late night music is an ongoing issue, especially at weekends, so in my opinion they shouldn’t be selling the rooms at all. Do not stay at this hotel. Quite possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Stayed there for a week and not once have they cleaned the room or put fresh towels in. The shower drain over flowing with horrible drain, dirty water. Asked for some towels and they gave me hand towels- that’s all they had. Bar smelled horrid. I wouldn’t wish this hotel on my worse enemy

Only hotel available in Southport for the Open. Absolute basic room, no AC, no toiletries, no WiFi, no safe, threadbare carpet, no place to refrigerate medicines. Incredibly miserable experience. Left before end of paid stay.
