Stafford House Guest House

I had a lovely stay for one night as I was working in the area. Hazel and Iain are great hosts and I couldn't think of anything to make the stay better. It was just perfect!

The welcome I received from Stafford house was second to none.The house and gardens are perfect ,as to the breakfast -ten out of ten(not trying the amazing porridge at Stafford house ,would be like visiting Paris and not seeing the eiffel tower)!

Stafford House is a little gem of a find located just North-East of the Lake District area. The setting of this lovely B&B is placed in stunning surrounding gardens which is immaculately maintained by the proprietors. We were warmly greeted by Ian, who was gardening when we arrived, but stopped to make sure we were in the right place. Don’t be too concerned if are you a stranger to the area, the wealth of local knowledge provided by Hazel & Ian can provide you with ideas and locations to spend away the day. They also provided us with a little travel plan that listed all the POI with sat nav postcodes. Our hosts Hazel and Ian are terrific people. Both knew just how much and when to attend or leave us to our devices. We stayed in the main house, but there are self-catering lodges available. The decor and attention to detail in the rooms are second to none and very, very comfortable. The rooms are well stocked with tea/coffee facilities and the bathroom with all manners of toiletries. There was a wide choice available for breakfast with fresh and locally sourced produce. Simple system, tick what you would like off the breakfast sheet the night before and it was beautifully presented the following morning. I had the salmon and scrambled eggs, which was so nice I had it again the following day and, on both mornings, looked and tasted great. Our stay here has encouraged us to make a point of visiting the Lake District more often.

Hazel and Ian are amazing hosts, attentive and fun. We only stayed one night en route somewhere else but was pleased to have the folly experience.

A really beautiful B&B. Inside castle grounds. Really exciting. Hazel the landlady was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. The breakfast was gorgeous. The room and bathroom was lovely. We would definitely go there again.

This property and its management is exceptional. Caring, and attention to every aspect is impressive. Lovely location, peaceful and at one with nature.

It was a lovely experience at Stafford Guest House. The nearest pub was 5 minutes away. Hazel is warm and welcoming and it was good to chat with her during breakfast. We will certainly come back again.

It doesn’t get any better than this. Our host was very gracious and friendly. She evokes a kinder, gentler, service-oriented era. We feel like cherished family members after staying for two nights. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful and we would love to spend more time here. Exceptional!

It was amazing the host Hazel and friend meet us in the car park, showed us to the rooms and around the property. Very friendly and welcoming , will be booking again.

Very clean and friendly

The hosts were really friendly, we were met outside in the car park and shown to our room. The communication regarding arrival time and offer to help with finding somewhere to eat before our stay added an extra level of care they put into their guests as well as the toiletries and fruit/drink options in the room. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Gorgeous room with a four poster bed and plenty of space with the shared "living room" area on the top floor. Lovely views from the room and i even saw a red squirrel outside. Definitely would stay here again.

Not even the word “perfect” would do this place justice. The location was absolutely stunning, the staff were amazing and very welcoming…and the room wow. Highly recommend visiting this hidden gem!

Excellent stay. Hazel who owns the hotel was lovely and very attentive. The room was impressive and of a very high standard. The breakfast was exceptional with a very good choice of items and all were freshly cooked to order. Great surroundings and a lovely wel kept garden. A real pleasure to stay. Congratulations to Hazel on a fantastic venue.
