This hotel was a bit of a surprise. The set up looks more like a motel and we were concerned there would be noise from the parking lot but it was fine. Our room appeared recently renovated and was very well thought through & appointed. No complaints! The restaurant sits right on the river and has a wonderful breakfast so be sure to sign up for that. Lovely view & you can watch boats go by while dining. Lovely, helpful staff. We were very pleased and would be happy to stay again.

A fantastic location if you are coming to Chester, its on River Dee and a stones throw from the.city centre its very walkable one end is the railway station, the other is the racecourse, The room itself was clean modern and the Boathouse restaurant served good food also the outside floating decking on the River is a great area for drinks

Lovely location, nice room. Lots of plusses. Shower great, bed huge, sympathetically decorated to fit the riverside location. Food great and reasonably priced. A couple of adjustments would have made me give 5 stars. TV not connected to Internet, limited choice of channels and unable to plug in fire stick etc. Room very warm, a better fan would have helped this considerably. Some of the menus were quite sticky, Staff were clearly cleaning tables but a tiny bit more attention to detail would be useful. Still had a great stay and would definitely return.

Room on ground floor in need of air conditioning and lighter summer duvets. Fan wasn't very effective and had restless sleep. Food a bit hit and miss.... chips overcooked, pie on Prix Fixe very underwhelming. Breakfast limited continental - only croissants and no other pastries as described. Scrambled eggs ordered for 3 of us and came as mashed up boiled eggs!! Food let our 2 night stay down.

We had a nice stay at the Boathouse. The room was comfortable and we particularly enjoyed the breakfast with river views. We needed a place to stay and it was race day in Chester. We learned of the culture of increased price across the city and can't recommend at the price we had to pay as the facilities were the same.

Stayed here before only let down is that bar closed at 10 o’clock on a Friday night even though signed as open until 11 when queried as a resident was Santos no stop was 10 o’clock

Beautiful setting on the riverfront and also an excellent location as close to the city wall & centre. Staff were friendly and rooms were lovely & clean. Would highly recommend if visiting Chester.

I liked the location right on the banks of the river also the free parking in a prime location. Didn't like the hit and miss breakfast, at our first breakfast everything was well overcooked almost inedible, but our second day breakfast was cooked to perfection ! go figure

Extremely clean, very helpful and professional staff. Excellent location. Unfortunately the wifi was very intermittent which meant I couldn't get my work done (I was in Chester on a business trip). This was a real problem for me. The room I stayed in was part of a modern block behind the pub, adjacent to the car park. Sometimes there were guests from the pub being loud, singing etc around closing time although this was short-lived.

Our first time in Chester and a 4 night stay in the Boathouse turned out to be a great choice. The location of the Boathouse is truly wonderful, with great accommodation, restaurant and bar and special thanks to Amelia who was so helpful in providing us her local knowledge. Highly recommended.

Great location and environment. We were placed in a accessability room that hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. There were dust and cobbwebs around the furniture. The bathroom floor/shower floor was dirty and had some mold.

I loved this property, its location, the room, the breakfast, the parking, the facilities. The only improvement would have been air con, but to be fair it was the hottest day of the year with temps above 30C. this would not put me off staying and I look forward to returning soon.

Room was small with no airflow BUT what made our stay was the exceptional staff in the pub. They were so very caring, friendly and addressed my daughter’s multiple allergies with ease. It was very rare experience that way. Would visit again
