Staff friendly but could do with more, always had to find someone, one person seeing to reception, bar’s and restaurant at once. Could do with a good thorough clean and a good update/TLC.
Felt sorry for girls working on such a busy weekend (F1).
Woman serving breakfast should have had long hair tide back not down and looking straggly!

Room was a good size, comfortable and clean. Only down side was we were next to busy road which made it noisy leaving the window open (we stayed during a heat wave). However once window closed noise wasn't an issue

Booked fairly last minute, for a very good rate. The car park was easy to find, and plenty of spaces were available (even though accommodation fully booked out). Reception on arrival was excellent, and even tried to change our sleeping arrangements due to a change in our needs. Bar area has a "Happy Hour" 3pm - 6pm which was a rare find nowadays. Comfortable and inviting, with a separate dining area. This seemed quite popular, so the food must be good quality. The bedroom was well appointed, if somewhat dated and in need of some modernisation. The bed positioning in front of plug sockets was odd, and the sockets on the other side being a fair stretch away. Small TV, not smart, just regular channels. Bed was okay, not awful, but slept on better. Everyone has their own taste on firmness though. Heard no noise from room below or to either side of us, nor from the corridor. So, well insulated from that. Even the main road outside wasn't too bad, but we didn't open the window. It was approx 18 degrees overnight, and there was a pedestal fan in the room, however it was still quite warm. Bathroom was functional, just a bit tired.
Would return, even with the improvements required. A little bit of cash spent on the sleeping accommodation would be great. I am sure a few trades who drink in your bar would swap free pints to help 'upgrade' some of the rooms.
I know this hotel featured on "Four In A Bed" a few years back, so I am intrigued to watch that now, and compare my own experience.

Rooms very nice, breakfast starting at 8am on a Sunday is too late we had to miss it which was a shame. Also not able to book a late check out which again was a little disappointing.

As a single female traveller I felt safe and secure. The rooms are seperate from the main venue via a cobbled walkway.
Room was clean and bed was comfortable.
I ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and the atmosphere was great.
Staff were on hand and always helpful
I would definitely recommend a stay and when I'm back in the area I will definitely book again.

The adjacent pub with hand-drawn ale and others on tap gave the place a comfortable feel and the dining was excellent. I had the traditional English breakfast one morning (it has everything!) and the eggs Benedict the other morning. The beer-battered onion rings at lunch were the best. There is plenty of parking.

The room was clean and quiet at night, which was great. It also had a kettle, teabags etc. The dinner menu wasn't the cheapest but there were a variety of meals to choose from . The breakfast had a buffet for items like yogurt, fruit and cereal. This was very scarce, as in two bananas, a couple of yogurts and some cereals.
All in all, it was a pleasant stay.
