Wanchai 88 Hotel

Cockroaches in the room and air conditioner was leaking. Also one lift was broken so long wait everytime.

I like the convenience and don’t like the old facility

We selected a bigger room and indeed very spacious. Engineered wood flooring, simple lines and decor and lots of overhead lighting in addition to an enormous window. BUT no outlet or USB PORTS near bed. Only ONE outlet in the room to charge devices. And two small elevators that can fit just about six people for the whole hotel including for service needs and one was out of order! Glad we were on the top (31) floor otherwise we could never have gotten in like so many others in lower floors.

I had an okay stay here; a very typical Hong Kong experience, I think, with a bustling, busy, semi-shabby but authentic neighbourhood all around, and the hotel conveniently near the main Wan Chai station. The hotel staff weren't exactly overburdened by friendliness, from my brief dealings with them; no smiles, warmth or chit-chat, compared to other hotels I've stayed in recently. The room was fine; it felt a little dated - seeing things like a DVD player was unusual in this day and age - and there were a few other quirks I wasn't a huge fan of. (Not least the several minutes I spent trying in vain to find the control for the electronic blinds, tucked away in an unobvious spot like some kind of Escape Room switch.) I also noticed that the sink ran orange-coloured water a couple of times when running it, which was a bit off-putting. Lastly, when I was checking out, the lift's ceiling dripped water on my head and suitcase - the Receptionist said there was a burst pipe. So, that was a first - getting rained on in a lift! Overall, it was fine, and I slept well in the quiet hotel. But I don't think I'd look to this one again...

Nice property with excellent staff! The rooms are spacious with a great deal of storage. I would have rated this stay a 5, but my toilet had a leak which took two attempts to fix.

Liked: Location was great and close to transportations and restaurants. Dislikes: The room was old and bit outdated. The staff was not very helpful when asked for direction.

Excellent location close to two MTR lines.

Convenient

Great location: near bus and tram stops, subway is also close by. Dining options are plenty. Room is spacious by Hong Kong standards and fitted with everything for a comfortable stay. The one thing I did not like was how the room is darkened by the electric curtain - window looks out to the next building. Not a big deal for me but could be an issue if staying longer than 2 nights. Reception at 3/f offers coffee and tea which you can take in the patio which is very nice. You can leave your luggage after check out.

Extremely MASSIVE rooms that provide a glamorous experience in Hong Kong. Very clean too. Also in an excellent area. Loved my stay very much. Only shortcomings were that a lot of the furnishings in the room were a little dated and should be updated (eg scratched furniture, etc). And I wish there was a restaurant on site, but it’s no big deal because there is so much food nearby.

Centrally located, easy access to public transportation, quiet rooms, friendly staff. The hotel is located in a hustle and bustle area, you can find food and convenient stores easily.

The maintenance of the property has gone down a bit. Electric socket plates are not fixed properly. Management should focus on the upkeep.

Great hotel, highly recommended!

The room is small but well designed, the walk-in shower is very nice. It was quiet. I found the bed comfortable, but I prefer a firm mattress. The staff went above and beyond, going out the hotel to make sure I went to correct restaurant, or went in the correct direction.
