Fossatún Country Hotel

The property is in a beautiful location right above the troll, but is pretty dated. Ratty towels and old beds and rooms, might be a good place for a family looking for a deal. The trolls and rock ‘n’ roll theme were a little off, but again fun for kids. Nice to have a hot tub with geothermal water at the end of the day, but there were no views and bright lights in the hot tub area, not very relaxing. Breakfast was decent.

Amazing location, great breakfast. We had one restaurant meal which was good. Used Kitchen for other meals. Used hot tubs and room was very warm and comfy. Would definitely recommend. Nearest supermarket is probably about 20 minutes in Borgarnes.

Ok, this is a "country" hotel. It is more like cabin buildings with multiple rooms per each building. The room was clean and comfortable with heated floor in the bathroom....nice. This hotel also has a cooking area in case you wanted to prepare your own meals along with a restaurant (which we did not eat at). It was comfortable and cozy and the small waterfall in the back of the reception building was nice.

Nice little county hotel with easy viewing of northern lights

Charming little place in the middle of nowhere, which I loved. Incredible quiet except for the roaring river and waterfalls the hotel overlooks. The breakfast was excellent and offered lots of options, and the dinner I had one night was delicious. A great choice!

The view of the waterfall and mountains was spectacular. The restaurant was quite good, would stay here again!

Beautiful space with lists of trails. The troll garden was cute, dinner was amazing and we had a spectacular view of the northern lights!

Our favourite stay in Iceland. Charming grounds with in-house "glass house feel" restaurant overlooking a mini waterfall. Having our dinner and breakfast there was extra special.

Lovely location with view of waterfalls from my room. I ate in the restaurant both nights and the meals were excellent.

Short & sweet stay at Fossatún Country Hotel. I really liked my accommodations, perfect for what I needed for a one night’s stay at the hotel. Plus, breakfast was delicious. It is quite a bit far from the town of Borgarnes though, so make sure you pickup your food/snacks before venturing out.

Check in was easy. The country setting with waterfall and trails was nice.

I liked the room, country style, don’t expect anything super fancy but comfy and clean, big bathroom and parking They offered breakfast to go since we were living early

The physical geography of the area is so beautiful and we had a nice view of the falls from our self-contained room. The troll stroll is quite the unique feature of the property and we had the best burger in a long time at the restaurant. The rooms are a bit sparse but overall we had a great time and would recommend to those travelling the ring road around Iceland.

A unique property with friendly personnel. On the road to Borgarnes if coming or going north. The Troll cafe and walk are both enjoyable. We used the hot tubs but not the communal kitchen.

The cabins were very comfortable and had fast WiFi. The day was rather cold so the central heating was a bonus. The troll walk and waterfalls made the stay fun and the food in the restaurant was excellent and well priced. I can recommend the beer. Check in was easy and the staff very pleasant. We wish we could have stayed longer.
