Lava Apartments

Parking was free and close. Easily walkable to the downtown area. Not staff on site other than cleaning crew. Entry was done with codes given through email.

Not well cleaned, garbage from previous occupant still left in bin, poor lighting, no tea coffee milk in the room, OK location, but not good value.

Okay to stay . Parking is behind the property which is inconvenient if with family and few bags.

The apartment is very well maintained has a fridge and cutlery, a microwave. Close to the harbour. Easy accessibility to the room with the code. Many restaurants near by if you want to eat outside. Bonus and Kronos is also walking distance. Staff did respond and allowed me early check in because of the weather.

We didn’t see any staff which is the reason for our rating. Our apartment was good just wished we had a coffee maker and toaster. The car park is behind the building could use some upgrades.

Price is indicative of property. We self checked in with a code but staff was responsive via Expedia messaging. They upgraded us to a Deluxe room with a microwave, which was appreciated. There is no staff onsite. The property was recently updated but it's modest; the towels are past their useful life and the dishes and cutlery had not been washed properly.

Nice apartments perfect for the traveler or if anyone wants to stay and travel around North East Iceland

TV was not working, Outside is not clean. Inside it was all clean.

The property did not meet our expectations for the following reasons: 1) There was no free parking available between 4pm and 10am, unlike what the property description said. They sent us an email saying they have free parking at a certain place opposite our apartment, but when we went there the parking was already full, so clearly they have less spaces available than they have apartments, and it's first come first served, so we had to park in the P2 area which is not free. 2) The walls are too thin and we could hear a lot of noise coming from the neighbour unit waking us up very early in the morning 3) The bathroom light is sensor-activated, but once it's on, it will stay on for a good 20 minutes with no way of switching it off. This can be very annoying when someone is trying to sleep. Even closing the bathroom door doesn't always help and a lot of light comes through in the bedroom anyway. 4) The two "bedrooms" (i.e. the proper bedroom and the living room with a sofa bed) are connected at the top (the wall between them is only 2/3 high compared to the ceiling) so there is also zero sound insulation between the two sleeping areas.

The location cannot be beat - the apartment was close to food, shopping and tours. The apartment was a good size, relatively modest and clean.

A reasonably priced small apartment in the center of the town. Easily walkable to all destinations in town. Ideal location for day trips to areas around Akureyri.
