Wisma Ketapang Hostel is a kos, rather than a hostel or a hotel, in which the owners rent out a couple of rooms online for travellers. As such it offers only basic amenities. The single room I stayed in was large enough for a couple of nights, there was a closet, desk, stool and fan. The mattress was firm and comfortable. The shared bathroom contained a shower and squat toilet. The kos was clean, owners friendly and it felt safe, although there was no security. Very quiet at all times. Two negatives: Firstly, the kos is a long way from anywhere. It is about 2 km from Cilacap bus station and 6 km from the train station and 8 km from the beach (which is hardly worth a visit). It is also a considerable distance from any eating places (300 m to some standard Street food and the closest Indomaret). Secondly, the owners use air fragrance to make the room smell 'nice', I assume. But the result is a room with an almost sickening aroma which is impossible to get used to. By my second day the smell had largely dissipated and I could start to breathe again.
