I was very satisfied with my stay here. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom was also spotless, and the amenities were complete. A hairdryer was also provided. The in-room Wi-Fi was fast. The breakfast options were varied, but my favorite was the variety of banana dishes. The fried bananas were top-notch 😄. The service from all the hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. A huge plus was the hotel's secure luggage storage facility. A 10-day trip between Kupang, Rote, and Soe would have been very difficult without this facility. Thank you, Harper Hotel!

Indian travellers, too, will appreciate the budget-friendly options available.

The accommodation landscape in Raja City is as varied as its neighbourhoods, with options catering to every preference and budget. The Fontein area, for instance, exemplifies this diversity, offering a range of stays that can suit different travel styles. European travellers from London (LHR) or Frankfurt (FRA) will find similar flight patterns, with connections through the same Asian cities, also resulting in journeys of 20-30 hours.

For travellers from India, flights from Mumbai (BOM) or Delhi (DEL) to Kupang (KOE) will also necessitate at least one stop, usually in Jakarta or another regional Asian capital, with travel durations typically between 15 to 25 hours. African travellers, for instance from Nairobi (NBO) or Johannesburg (JNB), will face longer travel times, often requiring multiple connections through hubs in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, potentially extending the journey to 30-40 hours or more to reach El Tari International Airport.

Navigating Raja City itself is made easier by a range of transport options. Local buses and bemo (minibuses) offer the most economical way to travel between neighbourhoods, though they can be crowded and follow fixed routes. Taxis are readily available, and ride-hailing apps like Grab are a popular and convenient choice for both cars and motorcycles, offering fixed prices and reducing the need for haggling. For those staying in areas like Kelapa Lima or Oebobo, these services provide efficient access to the city centre and beyond.

The best time to visit Raja City generally falls within the dry season, from April to October, when the weather is most pleasant with lower humidity and less rainfall. This period aligns with peak travel seasons for many international visitors, potentially leading to higher hotel prices and more crowds. However, shoulder seasons in the early dry months can offer a good balance of favourable weather and more competitive rates, making it an attractive time for value-conscious travellers from the US, Europe, and India.

Before departing for Raja City, ensure you have the local currency, Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), though USD is sometimes accepted in tourist-oriented establishments. Obtaining a local SIM card at the airport is advisable for data access. Essential apps include Google Maps for navigation, Google Translate for communication, and ride-hailing apps. While most international credit cards are accepted in larger hotels and shops, carrying some cash is crucial for local markets and smaller vendors. Visa Information

For travellers planning to visit Raja City, understanding the visa requirements for entering Indonesia is paramount. US passport holders typically benefit from visa-free entry for short stays, usually up to 30 days, allowing for straightforward travel. European passport holders, including those from the UK, Germany, and France, generally enjoy similar visa-free access for tourism purposes, also for a duration of up to 30 days, making entry relatively seamless for leisure trips.

Indian passport holders often have different entry regulations; while visa-free access may be available for short tourist stays, it is crucial to verify the latest regulations as these can be subject to change and may require a visa on arrival or an e-visa application prior to travel. For travellers from African nations, such as Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, visa requirements can vary significantly. Many will likely need to apply for a visa in advance through an Indonesian embassy or consulate, or may be eligible for a visa on arrival, with specific documentation and fees applicable.

It is imperative for all international visitors to confirm the most current visa policies with the official Directorate General of Immigration of Indonesia or the nearest Indonesian embassy or consulate in their home country well before booking any flights or accommodation. Passport validity requirements, typically a minimum of six months beyond the intended stay, and proof of onward travel or return tickets are standard requirements. While hotel bookings are often requested, specific financial documentation or invitation letters may be required depending on nationality and visa type.
