This is the first Onsen I've ever stayed at. I wasn't certain of what to expect but was pleasantly delighted by the experience. I'm sure others were too as the had many staying at the property. We were able to use the private onsens at 5 in the morning. But from what I could see, it got very crowded later in the day. I wish we could have stuck around the property more, but since we had a short time in Kyoto, we spent much of it exploring the surrounding area which was charming.

This hotel was amazing! It is a traditional Japanese style hotel but equally has some added comforts, like the super comfy beds. The area surrounding the hotel is stunning and is a nice quieter area to stay rather than staying in Kyoto. You can then easily get into Kyoto by bus or train, with the bus stop and train station just across the road/round the corner. There are lots of shops and nice restaurants nearby as well as amazing walks, shrines and other sites to see. The staff were friendly and the hotel was really clean. We tried the breakfast at the hotel and it was really traditional Japanese breakfast. We liked the experience but weren't fans of the food but worth trying! Would definitely stay again!

Absolutely amazing stay! Everything was taken care of to very small details. Staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was great! Within walking distance from Arashiyaman Bamboo Grove. Would recommend to people who want to try a ryokan and onsen for the first time.

Facilities offer multiple options for pawns and saunas. Beds are super comfortable, rooms were large enough and well decorated in traditional Japanese style. Location is very convenient.

'Shoes off, Yakata wearing' traditional Japanese experience! Very comfortable and warming. With tattoo restrictions on many Onsens and Sauna facilities around Japan, the private onsens here make it accessible. You can stay on the quiet side of the river or head over the bridge for the hustle and bustle. Very breathtaking area. Highlight was the traditional breakfast and dinner. So much food with such a huge variety. Would go back again if I was in the Kyoto area.

Nice, clean place. Not user friendly for none Japanese speaking / reading. I.e Locker, room number were all in Japanese. They just assumed that you know everything and let you figured things out by yourself. Free ice creams, free ramens were provided but we discovered that by ourself. That should be printed or explain at front desk.

A world-class Ryokon with amazing services and facilities. The Onsen is great, and the restaurant is amazing. Some of the property seemed a little dated, but it is impeccably maintained and spotless. Definitely one of the highlights of our Japan trip!

Great ryokan, but when I tried out one of the private onsens there were many tiles missing from the wall and there was an unpleasant smell. The public onsen (men’s) was lovely and everything was in good condition, so the quality of the private onsen seemed limited to that one spot. There are 4 other private onsens I did not try out. Staff was helpful and professional. Lots of charm to this place.

Beautiful property. Rooms a bit dated and small though. 5 private onsens which you dont need to book. Really busy during the day but from midnight could walk into any of them. Public onsen as well. Free ice cream, tea and daily basic ramen between 10:30 - 11:30am. Was a nice break away and near Arashiyama

Polite staff, great food and the onsens were amazing! Private onsens you could use at most hours of the day and a great public bath with a great outdoor section.
