Excellent service and a number of onsen options. Breakfast is delicious and offers a lot of delicacies. Optional kansakei style dinner was excellent. The staff were courteous and it seems like there is someone either cleaning the place or waiting to serve you. Free udon at night at 10 PM. Massage service was very good and done by experiences local masseurs. Minor complaint is that some of the furniture is dated but it also gives some ryokan charm.

This place is amazing! We arrived too early for check-in; however, the staff said they could keep our luggage at the front desk until we returned. When we got back, they had already put our bags in our room. Late-night, complimentary ramen is a must-try! One of the best bowls of ramen I've had in my life! Overall, a great hotel.

This place was a nice retreat for me after spending the majority of the past two weeks in Tokyo and Osaka. It is right next to the train station and a short walk to the sights in Arashiyama. The onsen facilities were very nice.

Traditional Japanese hotel, we enjoyed the different customs ( shoes locked away, katana to wear in hotel, traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast). The Onsen’s were lovely and were the highlight of our stay.

We enjoyed the Japanese style inn. We stayed in a western Rome, which had two western beds and two futons. The futons were a bit stiff, but that is to be expected. We also enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. It was a positive cultural experience. Arashiyama is a beautiful area. Next time I will book 2 nights in the area because there is plenty to see.

It was a very authentic Japanese experience, what an amazing treat! However, it was not very clear that you HAVE to preregister for any meals, otherwise you can not eat there. There was another pub type facility on premisis in addition to where people were eating but it was not open and we werent able to understand why? This did not take away from the experience as we were able to secure meals elsewhere- but you need to find food before 8pm as the town shuts down. The massages, private baths and public baths were absolutely outstanding and very clean. They provide robes, socks, pjs and all the tolietries you could possibly need. The staff was great and SUPER friendly even though it was very busy. They needed to rely on translation apps, we did not see any other Americans or non Japanese guests so it might be more if a local favorite which really added to the authenticity. The rooms were well above adequate, not new or pristine, but maintained very well. It was really a unique and memorable experience that we will fondly remember. Defineately wirth a visit.

Always beautiful, this time we stayed on the 3rd floor and the door color is different from each floor! Last year we were on the 4th floor. This year I was on the 3rd floor! It’s so cute! The various private onsens to choose from, then public onsen, the sauna was perfect! The cold plunge was super cold but so good after my sauna! The outdoor onsen is in a beautiful garden setting and I love relaxing in there! Just beautiful! 10:30pm late night ramen for hotel guests! Absolutely love it! The garden view is beautiful too! I love this hotel! It’s so cozy! I can’t wait to stay next year! Love love love this hotel! Right across the train station too! So convenient to get to!

Great experience of a non Western stay. Staff was all very friendly, room was comfortable, hot soaks were AMAZING after a few very active days of walking. We opted for a lighter dinner in the bar area and had an amazing time with great views of the garden. Breakfast was delicious and a new experience that we loved.
