The study was comfortable and location was good we walked to all of the activitieswe had planned. The only issue was that we could not find the settings for the air conditioning and with the sun coming, it was quite hot to sleep. A pleasant surprise, the description was saying there was no elevator, but there ws one, very useful as we were on the 3rd floor.

I had a really disappointing experience with this hotel. I specifically requested a baby crib twice before arrival and was assured it would be ready in the room. When we got there, there was a crib—but no mattress. The crib literally had a metal bar at the bottom, making it completely unsafe and unusable for a baby to sleep in. I reached out to the hotel multiple times for help, but only received automated responses saying they would notify the hotel. No one ever followed up or fixed the issue. Because of this, we had no safe place for our baby to sleep and were forced to leave and find another hotel at the last minute. It’s now been 6 days, and I still haven’t heard a single response from anyone. This level of service is unacceptable, especially when traveling with a baby. I would not recommend staying here.

The overall experience is very disappointing. Let me break it down for you. - Booked for 4 adult, received the hotel official confirmation as 4 adult reservation. Checked in and found only 1 double bed and 1 single bed. They ended up sent someone to set up the sofa bed but we waited almost an hour to get it resolved. - No direct customer service contact apart from a landline number. And they will hang up your call. Make sure you have international calls if traveling from outside Europe. (Turns out they have a WhatsApp number but it’s not advertised) - Shower drain was blocked with giant hair ball and flooded the whole bathroom floor when in use. It’s disgusting because I was asked to check the drain myself by the customer service agent. Ended up dig the hair ball out myself, apparently it was too late for them to send someone for help. - Body hair found in pillow cases - Black residue in kettle every time when in use even we scrubbed the interior multiple times - Stains on the lower part of the curtain (dark red stain looks sus) - Customer service agent promised a refund as compensation for inconvenience caused but ghosted our messages after we checked out Hope you find it helpful.

Dirty coffee cups in sink, bag with candy from local shop on counter and empty water bottles (the free ones left for us) drunk and in bin. Hotel by WhatsApp promised it would be dealt with. It wasn’t. Hotel offered late check out by 2 hours which I accepted but doesn’t make it right- there shouldn’t be evidence of previous clients in the room and if there is (as mistakes do happen) it should be sorted asap

I would give it a 3.5 if that’s an option. Room itself is great, but no wifi in the room when that’s promised is quite inconveniencing — couldn’t get any work done there. Also, the check-in process is quite slow to get your QR code for the room and resulted in us waiting at the door a few times. Other than those easy fixes, good stay and no other complaints.

Overall, my stay was very nice. Everything was so clean. Now for the cons: If you’re an older person who’s not using your cell phone for everything, don’t stay here. You need your email accessible from your phone so you can use the QR code to enter the building and your room. The bathroom lighting around the sink was HORRIBLE!!!! It’s so dark in there, very difficult to do anything at the mirror.

Really comfy beds. The apartment was spacious. It was in a nice area and easy to get the bus into central Amsterdam. Also easy to walk into the centre. The staff I met was very nice. On the down side, the kitchen was poorly equipped, with very sparse crockery and pans etc… The bathroom could also have been better equipped with soap etc..

We stayed at De Jonker for a long weekend just gone. We were very sceptical about staying here to be honest, after reading quite a few negative reviews. All I can say is our experience was totally different. We had a last minute room change via email, so I think potentially our room was a deluxe suite. We found the room to be clean, comfortable and with everything we needed. The bathroom and shower was lovely, we had a little rail for our clothes, clean bedding and towels, and complimentary toiletries and use of an ironing board and iron downstairs. The location was great for us, the number 14 tram takes 7 minutes, if that, to get into the centre, and the tram stops literally across the road outside of the hotel. A few doors down from De Jonker is an amazing breakfast place called Box Sociaal, we went twice and would highly recommend. We had absolutely NO issues with the QR code our whole trip, I’m not sure if they have changed the system since previous reviews or if people just weren’t perhaps scanning it with their screen brightness turned up enough or at the right angle, but not once did we struggle to enter the property with ours. All in all we had a very comfortable, peaceful and enjoyable stay at De Jonker and based off of our experience, would definitely return. Thank you! :) Olivia

Getting in and out of the hotel and room are by QR code and the technology is very poor. The location is unattended which makes it more difficult. The rooms are dark with broken plugs, clogged drains (they did quickly address) and dirty… carpet and woodwork hadn’t been cleaned in months to get the dirt build up they had achieved. Our room ended up in the basement down a very steep stairs that would not be considered legal in most countries. Pay a little more and get a real hotel room.
