Hotel 2000

Basic room situated within the modern extension of an older hotel within easy walking distance of the town centre. Reception/checking-in relatively quick although was unable to pay with UK credit cards (Visa & Amex) so resorted to cash – cash machine available a short walk from hotel at local bank. Common areas looked & felt rundown. I didn’t use the bar or restaurant – bought breakfast from nearby Aldi. Large room, adequately furnished, but limited features – no A/C, safe or closable cupboard & was very hot. Bed comfortable. Bathroom small & dated, shower good. No toiletries provided. Room was cleaned daily & new towels provided, which was a good surprise. External car parking was available via separate daily charge. Large car park although poorly lit at night. Potential guests ought to be aware that the hotel is apparently being used to house refugees/immigrants of varying ages. As budget accommodation that I booked for a short stay & to use as a place to sleep, wash & park it was fine. If your expectations are higher there’s much better accommodation elsewhere in the town.

Pros: - Friendly front desk staff - Short walk to the train station - Good wi-fi - Breakfast included Cons: - Reeked of cigarette smoke in front entrance area (bar/restaurant) - Floors in room were not swept or mopped - Drafty, cold room - hard to regulate radiator, so didn’t warm up until morning - Slippery wet walkway and stairs outside to get to room

Overall excellent You feel like at home

Room had ripped sheets, bathroom had average cleaning. TV didn't work (cables not plugged in, missing channels). Breakfast was not as expected, bread was stale (especially the croissants). Reported this to reception

It has not been renovated for a long time, everything is too old, but clean.

Hotel 2000 is a dated looking hotel but it’s in a safe neighborhood that is about a 10-15 minute walk from the city-center. We walked to/from the center both days we were there, with a 3-year-old, and it was no issue. The staff service was fine, nothing above and beyond but nothing to complain about. The breakfast did the job, nothing to write home about either. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Not much to get excited about with the hotel but definitely no negatives that would stop me from staying there again if I was ever in Valkenberg in the future. It met our needs as a family of 3.

Fine hotel with friendly staff at the reception. The lady was very attentive to help me find a local store. The room with balcony was next to the driveway to the parking area. It was very quiet all night long. The breakfast was plentiful. The breakfast area was almost empty because of very few guests at this time of the year (February). Fine place for one or a couple of nights to stay and discover Maastricht and Valkenburg city and countryside.

Excellent hotel, excellent location, excellent staff , 10 minutes walking to center ( old town) I strongly recommend it for anyone.

It was excellent stay , very friendly staff and excellent service, reception personnel were very kind and cooperative especially the girl called Jennat and AHMAD, breakfast was very good and very quietly. Location is excellent 10 minutes walking to old city , I recommend this hotel strongly.

I got food poisoning from hotel restaurant, the bartender didn't clean glass properly before making beers...

It is not a five star hotel but it is good and the hospitality was great. The location is also good, Valkenburg is a nice village and tourist destination near Maastricht. The room had all the necessary and the personnel was friendly and helpful.

5 night stay at the Hotel 2000 Valkanburg. Hotel very clean good sized rooms, helpful staff, good breakfast and evening meals. Would stop again and recommend to others. Approx 10 min walk in the centre of the town.

Great place! Guy upgraded ME to a superior room which was huge, little balcony a bath and a big flat screen with many many English Channels! Service was spot on and I was offered a free coffee and biscuit on arrival. Very quiet town and as im young I was quite bored ( nothing alcohol didn't aolve ). And it's a beautiful area. Hotel close to train station AMAZING wifi! Cannot fault it and im shocked at the negative reviews. It's cheap, and well deserving of 3 stars. Breakfast the restaurant everything great.

We booked on hotels.com. Showed up and they had no rooms saying that they had never got out reservation. I showed them the confirmation email and they claimed they never recieved it. The hotel staff was unapologetic and hostile. Everywhere in town was booked so we had to stay out of town at twice the price. It was a disaster.

Was generally a nice hotel with clean rooms and a good breakfast. The interior decor was quite outdated with very small tvs. Good en-suite facilities.

Very nice atmosphere...., staff very friendly and helpful !

Really enjoyed staying here, great on all levels.
