This property was centrally located so that everything in Amsterdam was a short walk away. The host David was so welcoming! The stairs getting to the rooms are no joke, but I knew that going in. Some reviewers have complained about them but Davids's property description is straightforward and indicates the property is not handicap accessible so do your homework and don't underestimate it. Our stay was wonderful, and we would absolutely book here again.
Tulip of Amsterdam
I know these reviews are meant to be short, but I need to take some time here.
First, if I could give Tulip of Amsterdam 15 stars, I would. David and Jeremy made everything perfect—and that’s not an exaggeration! Responsive to the few questions we had (they made sure most everything was in place), the two obviously take pride in what they do.
This was our first time in Amsterdam and we didn’t want a ‘regular’ hotel room. Some travelers may think the two (yes, there are only two) rooms are kind of ‘kitschy’ but we wanted something that reflected the area we traveled—not what we could find near home.
The room was comfortable and cozy. We were very appreciative of the amenities and that we were invited to use the full kitchen/common area. The room we were in was at the top of the stairs (don’t be intimidated! but plan to not rush up or down them). It was toward the back of the building and that was wonderful because we had no street/canal noise. We would open a small window and hear the chiming of the church bells on the hour.
The location is also a plus. Once we got our bearings, we were a 10-minute walk to Centraal Station, close to metro/tram lines (handy for the Rijksmuseum) and restaurants/markets everywhere!
If you are planning a ‘first trip’ to Amsterdam, staying at the Tulip of Amsterdam is a must! I know we would look to staying here on our ‘next’ trip…if we are so lucky!
Excellent and very comfortable accommodation with welcoming hosts. Facilities great, close to shops, metro stop and restaurants.
