Affordable and close to town Centre

loved the motel. great lication, great room, goid size with a tiny, but sufficient kitchen, great space for sitting area. since it was off-season, it was self check in, but when I called the number to confirm we were leaving luggage in storage for a few days (while we were tramoing the Milford Track) as agreed ahead of time, the owner answered on the first & only call & took care of it. the room was clean both times we stayed. loved it. only complaint is the laundry room could use a clean. maybe not once a day, but like once every few months maybe. The one washer & dryer both worked great, but that room needs a vaccuum especially the multy-layer of cobwebs all over.

Very old, run down and desperately needed a clean. Broken curtain rail, sheets too small for the bed, had to rewash coffee cups etc. 3 star is a stretch, absolutely not worth the $180 per night

Clean. Could do with upgrade

We will never stay here again or tell our friends to stay here, because they advertised a Queen size bed but they failed to mention that it was two single ensembles joined together by a large zip right down the middle of the bed making it very uncomfortable to get a good night's sleep. It collapsed in the middle. A very dated room, needs a face lift and way overpriced for what we received.

The property is well priced and conveniently located however the room was not adequately cleaned/vacuumed and is very outdated. All dishes and kitchen pans had to be washed before using as they were not clean. Beds not great. The kitchen was however well outfitted. Toilet was very clean and the linens were soft and fresh/clean. Shower door leaked water over the floor and the shower had some mold patches on the floor. There was no staff on site, key was left taped to the door when we arrived at 4:00 p.m. This was the most disappointing accommodation we have yet experienced during our New Zealand trip.

Great affordable place to stay in Te Anau on the way to Milford Sound.

Alphnorn is on a residential street that also has several other small motels. It is a short walk (using a cut-through) to the lake front and not far to restaurants and shopping, We appreciated having a kitchenette and separate bedroom. The front office was not open during the time we were there, but the keys were left for us and a note on the door gave a phone number to call if needed.

I didnt like anything. It was old and outdated. Stains all over carpet. Took us three phone calls to get onto someone to advise we would be arriving late. Then the key was put in an envelope and attached to the reception door. With everyone else's keys.

Facility not up to standard

Lovely space. Well set up kitchen. Beautiful peaceful spot.

Location is good

Clean and tidy unit 5 mins walk to the town centre.

Good property Closer to shops, restaurants and lake

We arrived at the Alpernhorn Motel around 5pm to find our key taped to the office window along with others. We were stunned to arrive at what is certainly the worst accommodation we had have after five weeks in New Zealand. The room was very dingy and the rooms were extremely dated. Out of date folder is provided. There is no air conditioning in the room and it was very stuffy. My wife called to ask if we could have a fan as she had spotted one in room 4 next to our room. She was told only room 6 and 7 had fans. We went out as was a lovely afternoon. When we returned the room was so stuffy. My wife went to reception but forgot it is only maned between 2-4pm. She spotted two fans in the reception area. She rang again and explained the room was so stuffy and could somebody give us one of the fans. A man came quite quickly and got the fan from reception. He explained they had a hotel along the road so if any problems to call the number. The beds were too low for us and the bedspreads looked cheap and worn. The furniture was poor quality ans very old. I doubt if this motel has seen a refurbishment in the last 20 years. The gardens are very nice at the property and we spent as much time outside as we could as much more pleasant than being in the room. The bathroom appears to be the only place modernised. If we had not had a long journey and we were going on a full day trip the next day to Doubtful sound we would not have stayed. Easy money and they clearly don’t care.

Seeing 2 ashtrays full of butts on the patio table in centre view of large window/door was unpleasant.

The property is a little dated but it was clean and quiet. Reception is not always staffed however when I rang about leaving my bag because I was arriving early I was advised to leave my bag at the Village Inn. When I returned to check in Teddy offered to drive me to the Alpenhorn Motel, so going over and beyond. At the end of my stay Teddy was extremely helpful and offered to drive me to the bus stop. Thanks a million.

Adequate. Bed not comfortable.

Wonderful times staying at this hotel. Nest and clean as well.
