Carrington Motel

Friendly staff. Rooms screaming out for renovation.

The staff were really sweet but they should not try and run a place for social services and homeless people and ask these poor people to shift out for visiting tourists. What’s worse is the tourists have rooms with the homeless people’s personal belongings in the drawers and cupboard and food plus their family photos on the wall. All too sad 😔 why is wotif promoting this - it’s not a regular motel Go Else’s

Very close to the Bowl of Brooklyn and very convenient for the concert we went to. Owner was very friendly and helpful.

Before we arrived, we knew that this motel was being predominately used as emergency housing (this wasn't the case when we booked mid 2023) however the motel manager did everything possible to honour all the bookings for this weekend in spite of the situation she found herself in. She contacted us well in advance, explained what was going on, and gave an assurance that our booking would still go ahead. On arrival, yes the property is run down and needs maintenance but our room, while obviously under renovation (and occupied by a long term tenant who had vacated for the weekend) was clean and the welcome was warm and the complimentary bbq dinner and breakfast was welcomed and went a long way towards making up for the drop in standards that was expected.

We arrived at reception took a few minutes to serve us (not good) Tv Internet could nt get it to work.

Felt rather unsafe as a 73 year old single female single traveller, lots of loud arguing from the unit next door, stayed only two nights but this was quite constant. Childrens toys , bikes and ride on bikes scattered, which made me thing it was a Motel used for social housing. Sad fact that these times are, I do believe that either the Motel direct or the provider in this case Expeditor, should or must inform the customer booking an Hotel , Motel or any other type of accommodation of this situation, so they are informed and have a choice of staying or not. Very disappointing., Will never stay there again.

Good

Staff are likeable, the housekeepers were friendly and helpful, it is an easy driving distance to the CBD and a good walking distance to Pukekura Park. Overall, the place needs a lot of maintenance. There are a lot of permanent residents, one of whom was singing and walking loudly above our room in the middle of the night. We lost a lot of sleep and moved rooms the next day, but the second room was not as nice as the first. Would stay elsewhere next time we are in NP.

It was a good price and close to center of town. Rooms were tired and run down but clean and functional. The motel was used for social housing and was very noisy until about midnight. The police showed up one morning because of a domestic. So it was ok but we felt a bit uneasy with the other things going on.

Great value! Nice and clean, close to town centre and parks. Sometimes might be a bit loud though. Nevertheless, highly recommend!

great property for such a good price

Looks a bit of old, but cleaned enough, quiet and comfortable.

It was a very pleasant place to stay

Property on the outside was messy. Upside down shopping trolley in the long grass etc. Room beside had a broken window that was boarded up. Looked rough on outside. Inside was good and clean and tidy. Very comfy bed. Well kitted out with everything needed. Shower was awesome. Like a water blaster.

Whilst we found the unit to be a bit outdated, it was tidy, and clean. Cleaning staff were great. Our bed was always made on our return to the unit. The owner Mrs/Mz was very affable and accommodating with our requests. Final one being breakfast on Friday. A beautiful meal of scrambled eggs, tomato, toast and chirazo sausgage. Over all, a great stay.

Noisey permanent residents. Thankfully we were moved to another unit. Needs work. Broken, unlit stairs, boarded up window. Couldn't recommend

A bit run down, could hear every step the guests took upstairs. But clean and tidy.

Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was great for a family of four.
