Lovely quaint hotel with attention to details. We wanted a place in Makati that was not crowded and 1898 surpassed our expectations. Our family stayed for 3 nights. All of the staff were courteous and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Really nice lobby and hotel rooms appear to be very modern/upgraded recently. Very friendly staff. Note: this is in the redlight district, I was not familiar with the area and didn't see this in the reviews and only learned about it from a local. This didn't matter to us much, we basically stayed at the hotel or took a car to other locations. We did go to the Filling Station - American style deli, that was a fun experience with decent & decently priced food. Only negative - they only heat the jacuzzi when asked and even then it doesn't get to American standards of warm/hot.

Good area if you’re looking to party with free lance workers. A lot of clubs around. I didn’t do enough research and had kids I highly don’t recommend with kids. As an adult if that’s what you indulge in it’ll be perfect for you. Definitely not kid friendly area.

Had €1500 stolen from my suitcase in my room while we went to dinner. Door was locked and do no disturb sign used. Realized this when on way to airport after leaving hotel. Too late to involve police. Really sad that hotels allow their staff to do this. Surely the door lock would show entry but no way to prove the money taken without cameras. Very very sad. Guests beware!
