We have stayed here previously and recommended to friends, it was comfortable, well priced for location and quirky. Still really like the concept and hotel however we were a little disappointed this time. The air conditioning wasn't working and we informed reception on arrival as it was 26.5 degrees in our box, the ceiling vent was also broken so no air at all in the box. V uncomfortable. Reception advised that air conditioning yarts working when temp hits 24 degrees? This wasn't the case and we felt fobbed off. Seemed to not understand what we meant by the vent, no attempt to repair or come and check it out, we were not offered alternative room. Said he would call company to repair and no further action. Reported again to reception following morning and again told that air con was broken across whole hotel, that they would report and then change our room, we went out for the day, when returning it was another receptionist who stated she hadn't been informed..we requested to move room and she assured us air con was working. It wasn't and another uncomfortable night sleep in a hot box however vent opened but then we awoke due to noisy customers. Following day still no sign of repair and another customer complained in the nighttime. Air con then came on at 11.30pm.on our final night, was set to 20 and didn't then turn off. Not sure what occured this time but it was uncomfortable and bad service. The hairdryer didn't work in room. Would return however they need to ensure listen

Forget it

A very unique and funky property! The rooms are interesting, clean, and surprisingly spacious given their unique construction. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Location is convenient too, located centrally in Porto meaning everything, including the Ribiera, is walkable.

The staff were great and helpful,the breakfast and roof top area/staff were great.basically the facilities outside our room were smashing. Good spacious functioning shower room.WiFi good.hotel well located.lifts all in working order. negatives- the dusty air inside room,thin noise insulation between rooms/corridor.

The walls were very thin, could hear everything going on in the rooms around me. Missing basic amenities such as a glass or a towel bigger than a hand towel. Staff were friendly but the basics were missing in the room. The air con did not also work

Great comfortable apartment in a fantastic location near everything. Comfortable bed, quiet complex.

Qualité prix vraiment bien. C’est spécial de dormir dans une boîte, mais en voyage, on passe très peu de temps dans la chambre. L’accueil est vraiment bien, très bien situé, très bon restaurant sur place.

It's an interesting take on minimalist - and very very economical - way to stay! This was hands down the most economical place I could find at the time of my travel and I'm glad I took advantage of it. The bare wall bathroom and "no window, just a box" theme certainly isn't for everyone but if you are looking for an efficient, and quite honestly sufficient, place only a few minutes walk from Bolhao market/via Catarina shopping area and/or 5min from Sao Bento station, this place is a find. It worked out great for me bc I had two day trips that started from Sao Bento and ended in Praca Batalha area which is also close. Facilitates are really sufficient. Shower was good. I do recommend having flipflops ( because the shower floor is more concrete than tile) which people don't usually need for an ensuite bathroom. Self operating lockers for storage after the check out. Staff very pleasant, they monitor the front desk 24hrs. No communal fridge but they were happy to hold my few cold items in the fridge in the back overnight, which was very much appreciated. I didn't get to utilize the communal areas in the 5th floor but the concept of bring your own movie to hook up to a big screen/stereo is brilliant. I did think that the area right outside of the place was a little run down, not dangerous in any way, just in "some neighboring lots are empty so it looks sketchy at night", kind of way. Again , the theme is not for everyone, but for the location and price I would return to stay.

Nice place - and room was comfortable and clean - so not a bad place to stay. First room was given had a very foul smell in it - so was given another. Some staff at front desk were extremely rude, seemed to be prioritizing helping people they knew and not following order people were lined up in.

I found it a very unique concept and perfect for my need. It was quiet and I slept really well.

We’re pretty flexible travelers and genuinely looked forward to our stay here both for its vibe and price point. But we quickly discovered it’s a glorified hostel. The rooms were sweltering hot with no means to cool them down meaningfully. The bathroom was moldy. And we didn’t get a chance to explore the sauna because we’re pretty sure we walked in on a couple really putting it to use…. But the bar and restaurant downstairs are great, as is the location. So you get what you pay for.

The side street this hotel was located on was a bit sketchy, but very close to the main road. Staff and the quality of the hotel was great- definitely geared toward an under 45 crowd. Rooftop pool was unavailable due to maintenance which was a bummer. There was a considerable amount of mold in the bathroom of my ‘box’- around the base of the shower and in behind the sink. The industrial aesthetic, dim lighting and absence of windows might lead one to overlook it. I would stay here again on a solo trip but the box might be tight for two people.

Economical but somewhat uncomfortable. Rooms felt like I was in an institution. Common rooms were dingy and uninviting.

Great Hotel

Location was fantastic. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom had hot water forever. It was a little claustrophobic (it is a box- they’re not exaggerating) but the bigger room seemed ok. It’s well laid out and well appointed. The restaurant is top notch and great value. The sauna is a great touch as well for weary travelers. The roof top is also quite nice. Staff is superb and very helpful.

Pros: Convenient location that is walkable to most attractions Cons: It stands out as the hotel with least amount of basic decent amenities. The bath towels were so poor quality that looks more like a rag. Even the toilet paper was of such poor quality that’s unrivaled. The room doesn’t even have a telephone. No safe deposit box. To top it, the air conditioner will auto switch off after awhile. Let me repeat. It switches off. It does not restart after it warms up. It simply shuts down. We were told they had taken care of the problem but never did resolve it. Staff attitude was ok. Hotel will only make up the room if u request at reception desk on day u want it. Even then they forgot to make up the room.

Conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to get anywhere. The facilities are well-equipped, and the bed is very comfortable. Additionally, there is a luggage storage option available for early arrivals, which is a great convenience.
