From the very first moment and the warm welcome this was an unforgettable experience. The lodges, the setting (even the amazing 28km gravel track to get in!), the staff & the food were first class. Top all of that off with an elephant encounter and you have memories that will last a lifetime! The ladies there arranged a half-day guided safari for us at nearby Addo Game Reserve - thoroughly recommend that too.

Alta, Tracy and Godwin were very welcoming and very attentive. The rooms are all external to the superb main Lodge. I highly recommend this Lodge in it's own small but game filled reserver, separate from the main Addo Elephant Sanctuary which is some 55 minutes drive away. Our villa\cabin\room was on its own (as all are) bur secluded in the bush. Our car could be parked very close but there were well lit gravel paths to the main Lodge. It was not obviously apparent from booking with Exepedia that there were cabins with views over the valley and reserve, We would have tried to book one of those if we knew of their existence. The feature of ours was a stream running by the external private deck. The deck had a Jacuzzi but it was covered with canvas, which we I lifted it showed that it needed cleaning of leaves and debris. I'm sure that if we wanted to use it they would have jumped to clean it for us. The lunch and dinner menus are set but they do ask if you have any dietary requirements. Good wine selection, In the booking format presented by Expedia,

I'm not sure how this was deemed a 4 star hotel, I'd say it's a solid 3 star. The decking of the cabins seemed like it needed repair, the facilities could use an upgrade. The food was good, service wasn't bad. They should really warn you about the terrible drive in - you should use 4x4 as it's very rocky and a long drive! Skip the private tour of Addo National Park as it's in a closed in van - that should be clear as well - I want an open air jeep!
