Beautiful Geoffrey Bowa- designed boutique hotel set in a beautifully tended garden. This is our second stay & it didnt disappoint. The staff remembered us after 4 years! Very good service, excellent breakfasts & evening meal. There is a train line running along the bottom of the garden and the train clanks along it every hour or so. We loved the quirkiness of it. Its a gorgeous, peaceful sanctuary. Beautiful beach is just over the railway line. There are bars along the beach to the left for a lunchtime wander & food, and also great places to eat along the beach to the right in Bentota (or short tuk-tuk ride). I would happily come back here anytime!

It was wonderful to return here - I love this hotel. The gardens are beautiful and the beach is clean and fabulous for swimming and long walks. The staff are outstanding. In many years of travel I don’t think I’ve ever seen a hotel staff member more dedicated than the pool guy (pool is great for swimming laps too - 25m). The housekeeping team were great too - and surprised me daily with towel ‘art’ and flowers on the bed. Excellent food too!

Nice facility, comfortable rooms. Pretty garden with pool. Pool was hot, but the hotel was adding cool water - just a hot place! You do need to cross the railroad tracks to the beach (as with most hotels in Bentota), but it's not that big of a deal - just no water views from the hotel because of the distance. What is most strange is that there is no setup of chairs/sunbeds/umbrellas or anything at the beach. On Day 2 of our stay we were able to get 2 sunbeds brought down to the beach. Seems really odd for a beach location. The ocean was pretty rough the first day, then slightly calmer the next two days - waves, but not knocking you over (we were there end of February). Restaurant staff is friendly and attentive. Food is very good, though not outstanding.

Charming boutique hotel, decorated with taste, good rooms, helpful staff, excellent location almost on the (beautiful) beach. If you are not worried by the old diesel trains crossing the end of the garden, you will only enjoy your stay.

THE HOTEL IS THE WORST EVER EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE. THEY ATTEMPTED TO CHEAT ME BY TRYING TO COMMIT CREDIT CARD FRAUD AND TRIED TO CHARGE ALMOST 3.5 TIMES THE AMOUNT WHICH WAS DUE. IN ADDITION I HAD TO SPEND THE ENTIRE DAY AT THE POLICE STATION TRYING TO GET THEM TO ADMIT THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO CHEAT ME WITH AMPLE PROOF OBTAINED IN TEXT MESSAGES FROM MY BANK. FORTUNATELY I HAD REPORTED THE ISSUE IMMEDIATELY TO MY BANK. I WOULD URGE PEOPLE TO NEVER BOOK THIS HOTEL AS THEY ARE FULL OF CHEATS INCLUDING THE ENTIRE MANAGEMENT! EXPEDIA NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THEM BY DELISTING THEM FROM THEIR WEBSITE.

Lovely property. Next to a railway line which has its own novelty. We had issues with power cuts during our stay which made it less comfortable but would recommend this place for rest and relaxation.

This is where you go to get away from it all. Secluded, away from the noise and chaos of Bentota and surrounds, yet only a tuk tuk ride away, if you wish. The train line adds a little feature and across the tracks the beach is empty.
The staff don't bother you, so if you want a drink or something to eat, you'll have to get someone's attention in the restaurant.
My only disappointment was when bringing 12 friends for dinner the staff seemed reluctant to take us even though they were not busy. That said the food is good and price reasonable.
It's lovely and quiet and you really miss the ambiance once you've left. Highly recommended.

Club Villa has been a good choice. I spent 3 nights there in total relax and peace. The food and the quality of it is great. The room very spacious and clean. The only downside is to be aware of the sandflies. The management after my complaint said that the garden is sprayed twice a month but probably it is not enough. Bring a good repellent.

It was an excellent experience. Loved the hotel and the staff. Good location Beach was close, and the pool was lovely specially for kids. Also food was good too, though hotel should upgrade to better gourmet coffee. My only two comments are that rooms need a little renovation and an upgrade specially when it comes electric outlets and making sure that it's completely sealed from bugs (specially mosquitoes).
Also it wasn't an issue however it would have been great if hotel can add some basic beach Furnature near the beach at their side similar to some other hotel.
All in all was a pleasant stay I would defiantly recommend specially for families as the villa club offers 3rd bed in most of its rooms. Also value for money is great.

Our stay at Club Villa Bentota was truly one of the nicest experiences we had in Sri Lanka. If you can't relax at this place then there is something wrong with you. The rooms are very nice and open up onto a beautiful lawn with a great swimming pool. Your day starts with a nice breakfast in the open plan restaurant followed by relaxing around the pool. A lovely man will serve you throughout the day with whatever your needs may be. At around 10:30/11:00 he will ask if you would like a King Coconut to sip on. Take him up on his offer! At 4pm tea will be served on the lawn. It is such a great little touch that makes the stay that little bit more special. We couldn't recommend Club Villa highly enough.
