Light hostel - Chiayi

Room is very inconvenient, the only furniture is the bunk bed and locker. There’s no elevated surface to put items on. There is only luggage elevator which you’d still need to lift your baggages to put them in. Staff were great, they recommended us a lot of places to visit. The shared kitchen and hang out spaces are nice too. I’d only recommend this for solo travelers.

I guess it’s just the timing but, I stayed two nights and never saw the free coffee or tea that supposed to be in the kitchen (there was free water dispenser though), then when we come back around 10 am on the 1/21 they saw as at entrance but didn’t say anything about it and we found that there was no electricity in the room and had to go downstairs to ask what happened to the electricity and they said: oh there is no light till 3pm. I don’t know if that was only for that day or if it’s a regular thing but... couldn’t you just notice us before we go up at the moment we greet each other 😓

I stayed here for one night, so I don't know if my experience can serve as a true representation of the place, but here we go. Overall, the place is rather big, and you get a lot of place to just sit around and chill. They also have a kitchen, so you can cook for yourself if you want. The biggest problem I had was the room. It was a dormitory-style ensuite room. I know dormitory ensuite can go both ways where it can be convenient to have a bathroom in the room, but your neighbors might be crazy and want to take a shower at 2 in the morning. Luckily, all my roommates had common sense. The problem was that the bathroom smelled bad. The whole room smelled like the bathroom. We had a window, but the window screen was broken. I didn't want any bugs in my room, so I decided to just cope with the smell. The bathroom could use some updates, but it wasn't exactly gross. It just smelled like a public bathroom. The location is quite nice. It's very close to the station and supermarkets. Wifi in the room was also very usable.

The room was clean and very nice but there was a lack in the community feel that hostels usually have. It wouldn't be easy to make any new friends. Still a good location and comfortable place to stay.

The place was clean as you’ll have to change to indoor slippers before entering, however the walls were really thin and I could hear the rain at night. The mattress was thin too but okay for one nights sleep. The attached bathroom was clean and there was soap provided. Location wise it was a 5-10mins walk from Chiayi Train Station and very convenient with many food choices around. Wenhua Road night market was also walkable around 15 mins away. The staff were really helpful and there’s a basement open area you could use, sofas and even a Mac desktop! Do note there are no elevators so best to travel light, or you could ask for a helping hand!

Good location, comfortable and clean room. The communal area is on the top floor and includes the roof terrace. It's a shame that there isn't much seating on the terrace and that the area looked forgotten. I had to check out before breakfast started but the staff helpfully told me where the suppliers were and that I should help myself.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It's small but comfortable, great design and top floor common area. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Chiayi.

It's my 2nd stay at Light Hostel, everything was rather hassle-free. Very friendly people at the reception. Love the kitchen at L5 for packed supper (if you also prefer not to dine in the room), a breather at balcony and you can also do your laundry here. Short walk to the night market. Cute luggage lift by the way.

We stay in the double room for a night, the price and location are super, I like their atomsphere and they have a really large common area, but the air-con in the room are bit old, quite noisy, also, you can easily hear other guests talking while in the room.

Location is very convenient. Just 5 minutes from the train station. The facilities are good except the bathroom drains is slow.

I wasn't expecting so much of a backpacker hostel but this turned out to be really great. The hostel area is safe and near to popular places. The hostel room is really clean and edgy with own bathroom in each 4-bunk-bed room which is definitely a bonus for them. However, the hostel stuff seems slightly unfriendly consider that she did not bother to explain about their hostel or places around.

Loved my stay here - convenient location once you find it, and the rooms are compact but super clean with great bathrooms. Friendly staff. They ask you to place your shoes at a footlocker near the reception, which was odd, but ok. Breakfast is via vouchers with a choice of two locations (Taiwanese or Continental), so no complaints there. The Taiwanese breakfast resto folks didn't speak English, so in case you want to play safe with your food, I recommend the continental option.

The walls and floor are so thin that I can hear people talking in other rooms. With this in mind, imagine children thumping and screaming up and down the stairs for hours. This is what we endured and we're woken up by at 7:00am. We couldn't even hear the tv at full volume they were so loud. Asking the staff made no difference. They didn't seem to care.

Location convenient , 10 mins walk to train stn n night market . And is good choose for vegetarians lover . The stall just beside hotel, the foods is delicious n reasonable price .

不小心住到混宿，對方是整個家庭的，很不自在，下次不敢在選混宿，其他表現的都很不錯

服務人員非常親切熱情！房間乾淨整潔，跟網路上照片一致。遇到寒流，蓋了二件被子才夠暖，怕冷的人，要多留意。唯一可惜的是房間對於街上的聲音，完全沒有隔音效果，幸好帶著抗噪耳機，才得以入眠。地點非常好，文化路夜市、火車站都很近，嘉義市鬧區，步行都可以到達。

很好，乾淨，背包青旅很好。
