Well services 5star hotel. No complaints on anything. Absolutely happy overall. However some minor things, 1. TV unit was not equipped with Google Chromecast(later staff confirmed it can be provided)2. Swimming pool on top is deeper on one side with 1.9mtrs(higher than average man height) mainly suitable for professional swimmers. Adjacent 1/3 area is 1.3mtr deep, however lifeguard on duty always.

We accidentally left our daughter’s favorite shorts and shirt they recovered it and shipped it back to us in the states. That was the cherry on top of our wonderful stay.

Great hotel although somewhat old and somewhat dated. It is very well located and base several dinning options which make it very convenient. The staff and the service are super high class. The pool is also very impressive as it is located in the top floor with an incredible 360 degree view in all directions.

Absolutely great experience. The only thing we would give advice to future guests is to look into the “meal plans” from our experience if you don’t purchase them in advance you aren’t allowed to dine at most of the restaurants.
Other than that the staff, rooms and facilities are wonderful!

The best of the best! Jeffrey Chung is the finest Conceirge I have ever encountered. I can’t say enough about this hotel. They believe wholeheartedly in Customer Delight.
I left my phone in a cab as I was dropped at the hotel one afternoon. Jeffrey assured me not to worry — that everyone gets their items returned in Taipei. He was so right. He saw to it and the taxi driver (so honorable) returned my phone.
I look forward to returning to Taiwan and definitely staying at the Shangri-La Far Eastern.

The hotel is old and dusty. My family experienced allergic reactions to the dust and mold in the bedrooms and common areas. The breakfast buffet was also underwhelming for a Shangrila and not worth it

English speaking travelers will feel very comfortable and cared for in this hotel. The staff is genuinely hospitable and accommodating. A special thank you to Sing, the lifeguard on duty at the rooftop pool, (a hidden gem of a view of the city) who not only gave us a great recommendation for dinner at Chez Yeh, on our last night in Taipei but personally made a call to make a reservation for us. I highly recommend this beautiful, clean and relaxing hotel.

The cleanest of the property is questionable. I have been staying at this property recently for Two nights and both days I had cockroach in my room.(I didn’t expect that when I was booking a five star hotel.) In the meantime when we running into another guest who was formerly staying next to our room had the same cockroach problem too. I am appreciated Chester the manager for realizing the issue and commit to do something about it. But I am not sure if I will go back again even after they switch us to a different floor and put us in a more expensive room.

It is not in one of the popular tourist area. It can look into neighboring residential buildings windows or vis versa. When we checked in the room was so damp as if no one has been using it for a long time. The hotel is very out dated throughout. Breakfast is usually crowded and feels like a bazaar. The Shang Palace restaurant is great although pricy. Staff are friendly.

Nice place and great service but the room on the 9th floor smelled like a restaurant in the evening during restaurant rush hour and the wester section of the morning breakfast buffet was cold. Cold ham, bacon, sausage and paulenta. Nicely prepared but missing the mark when cold.
