This guesthouse is right next to Tha Pae Gate, a very busy and fun area of the old city. There are lots of great food and entertainment nearby. The guesthouse is not fancy, but the rooms are fairly large and have all the simple amenities we needed. The only complaint is the hot water heater for the shower is very inconsistent, so it can get really hot or cold. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our flight out of Chiang Mai was late in the day and they were willing to let us check out later.

My number one priorities are cleanliness and location and Central guest house was great for these. Situated above UGO restaurant right next to Thapae Gate you are perfectly situated for exploring the old city (Sunday night market is a must), plenty of bars and places to eat. Entry is through the restaurant during the day and via the boxing stadium after 11pm (up some steep stairs). The room (single room) was basic bed and shower, TV with Thai channels only. There was a kettle but no cups or coffee and no fridge so something to consider if staying more than a couple of days though there is free water on the landing and the restaurant downstairs. Staff were great and you can book all kinds of trips and days out at reception. Recommend for a couple of nights stay

The Guesthouse is located above a very popular and delicious restaurant in the center of the city. The room was large enough for 4 people and had 2 bathrooms. The access was a steep stairway located in an alley next to the restaurant. 24 hour access.

You get what is listed here. Benjamin is a cool European guy that was very accommodating. When we first checked in, our room had an uncomfortable bed and smelled kind of funky, and Benjamin was apologetic and very accommodating in finding us a different room. The next room was much better. Very basic and clean. If you're looking for a spot in the old city that's close to the weekend market and just need a cheap place to sleep and shower, look no further. Probably the best deal in town. Cool restaurant downstairs too!

Originally booked 2 nights but ended extending my stay for 5 nights. I really enjoyed my stay here. The manager or owner is European and was very helpful in his knowledge of the city, very customer friendly and helped save me money by pointing where to get cheaper taxi rides to attractions. The other staff members were friendly and helpful as well. The room itself was very nicely furnished and the location is great - with so many attraction and areas within walking distance. There is a also nice restaurant at the bottom of the GuestHouse. Not to miss - on Sunday nights there is a huge local market held just a short block away from the guest house. I highly recommend this place.

What a great place for Songkran! Right in the thick of things. The staff even got involved. A little too much at times, but they were great. The restaurant had really good food. AirCon worked. And right next to Thai boxing. My knocks were the shower drain never worked well, and the doors looked like they could easily be broken into with any credit card. Overall, great stay.

We happened to be staying here during Songkran, which was a great time for this location. It is right next to the Muay Thai Boxing arena and about two blocks from the Sunday night market. But it was waterwar central. It was great that the staff partook. The restaurant downstairs served good food for a slightly above average price. Everyone working there was fantastic. The ac was good as well. The only knocks I can add are sometimes it can get a bit loud at night, the bathroom was never really cleaned and no shampoo. One thing I would definitely update is the door jams on most rooms. They look like they have been damaged a bit from someone having to butter knife them open. There are security cameras in the halls, but with no safe in the room, we took our valuables with us. I would stay here again. The positives way outweigh the negatives for the price.

I enjoyed my stay. The location is great , just inside the city walls close to a city wall gate with Starbucks just through the gate.(the local coffee shops are actually better coffee and also do great drinks like Mango Frappucino) The room was good, it was clean and the air con worked well. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a very good restaurant on the ground floor. There is a large range of tours available and they can provide advice on travel.I went on 2 local 1 day tours through them, both good but the one washing elephants and swimming in a waterfall particularly memorable! They also arranged the travel for a transfer to Chiang Rai. I look forward to staying again at some time in the future! Chiang Mai is a great walled city, my favourite in Thailand and Central Guest House is in a great location for making the best of the city. Just remembered...they can also arrange discounted tickets for the Thai boxing close by, I went twice!
