What Guests Say About Their Stay

Great place to stay! I was concerned before booking after reading some of the reviews. Not sure what people can complain about. This is a 2 star hotel. Yes, there is a faint smell of old smoke in the elevator and in the hallway leading to rooms. Very faint. Everywhere else (reception, breakfast area, gym, etc.) it smells very nice. Our room was clean and smelled nice. Linens and towels are sparkly white without any stains. Comfortable mattress, plenty of good pillows. A/C is a floor unit connected to the balcony door. This setup is a little weird but does the job nicely. It is quiet and cools down the room quickly. It was over 90 F outside every day and this A/C unit kept our room cool without any problems. Staff is very friendly and always available if you need anything. My son and I were staying for 5 nights and everyone we uncounted made us feel welcome. Loved hot breakfast: eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, yogurts, fruits, cereal, milk, waffles, toast, pastries. Location is safe and quiet. Close to everything. Over a dozen places to eat within walking distance. Bottom line: Unless for some reason you expect 5 star accommodations when paying and checking into 2 star hotel, you will love this place.

The Indian Restaurant across the street had amazing food. There was also a diner down the street with hood food. The daily breakfast at Barclay was a good way to start the day. The beds were comfortable. I liked that many places I wanted to go were walking distance

TBH the property is outdated. But my stay was actually very relaxing. To start the staff is amazing and very helpful. I really enjoyed the bed and shower was really hot just like I like it. Had no issue with water pressure but did have to clean the shower because I saw a small piece of hair in it (I always clean my room before use regardless of how clean it may be). Parking was secure and easy. I didn’t eat breakfast but was a nice option to have.

As soon as you walk into the hotel is very dated, had to pay a $150 deposit i wasn’t aware of! Parking is $18! Which is WILD! That’s across the street from the hotel. You ride a very scary old elevator to a room where my card didn’t work. Room smelt old like hospital! Had a window unit with this long white hose. Curtains had holes in them that the sun would peak through. Tv had no sound. Bathroom is so small don’t have anyone over 5’8 shower there bc they will bust there head. Very old and dated, room didn’t get cold. The elevator literally shut on a women! When riding it, it doesn’t seem stable. Won’t stay again!

First of all, I was told to park in a parking garage because it's safer, owned by hotel folk and they gave me a discount. The car was broken into, they couldn't take much because I didn't have much in there but they trashed my car. I was out in room 607. The smoke alarm was yellowed and beeping constantly. The AC twrmostste was knocked off the wall. There was a floor unit piped to a cardboard wall that was duct taped to the sliding glass door to the balcony. The room absolutely reeked of pot. It was late, my son and I stayed one night in the room. The next afternoon after my son and I got back from our meeting we told the front desk about the experience. She was flippant about it. Shrugs. Sorry. We can move you to another room. So we got moved to another room. When we went to 607 to get our stuff... Only one bed was made, the room had an even stronger smell of pot and a pillow was practically infused with pot smell. We pulled out stuff out and went to another room. Here, there was no pot smell, the AC worked, everything was tidy and neat. The conclusion made was that the hotel staff uses 607 to smoke and thus disabled the smoke detector. The rest of our nights there was good.

I have never left a hotel in my life before Barclays. From mold on the ceiling, cardboard and tape keeping the balcony door closed, water stains everywhere, and a smell that gave me an immediate headache. First i switched rooms, then i cancelled my reservation without having something else lined up. Then they refused to give me a refund. Just the worst hotel experience of my 4+ decades on this planet. The only pro was the from desk person was very nice, and she understood my switching rooms and leaving.

Got there after midnight. Was given 2 dirty rooms and another already occupied by other guests before finally getting one that was clean. Manager never got back to me after leaving sevetal messages. Staff never even knew if or when the manager might show up. Highly unprofessional way to run a business. Definitely won't return. Not a great locale either.

Listing said 2 queens- they were double beds and small- room is way smaller than pics. It was dirty- there was grime and dust on many surface areas. The beds are not comfortable. There is no working thermostat in the room to adjust the temp- it was SO HOT- 90 degrees outside and in the 7th floor room, the elevator and enclosed area between front lobby and elevator the temps were WELL above 80. I called to ask them to lower the temp- they refused (said they couldn’t). Breakfast was worse than school slop- watery eggs, coagulated gravy, no healthy options at all. The waffle maker was a mess so I didn’t bother with it. There’s NO microwave or mini fridge in the rooms- so staying more than one night is ridiculous. The ONLY microwave is BEHIND the front desk on the main floor though TWO locked doors and a front desk person has to be there to let you in to use it. Which means a ride from 7 floors up on an 80+ degree elevator x2 that is older than my grandparents and feels like something out of a scary amusement park ride. It also REEKED of we’d both in the elevator and immediately outside the front door of the hotel- where their own employees were sitting under the dropoff circle mere feet from the door. Personally I could care less what they do- but doing it on the job- it’s unprofessional. Then the hair dryer didn’t work- we tried new plugs before calling the desk- a new person answered and irritatedly informed me there’s no replacement and did nothing. Again. 0/10 for this place

The hotel was just old and ran down. It smells so bad. The first room we went in smelled like pee and mildew and she offered us a balcony room which the balcony’s window was taped shut for a window unit. I mean the room was somewhat clean the housekeepers are doing their best, but the smell was awful. And the carpet is so dirty. I would probably never stay here again.
