There weren’t a lot of frills here, but it was very cozy, clean, and super convenient to the ferry. The early morning breakfast was simple but enough to get us out the door.

3 min walk to Staten Island ferry. Breakfast provided was minimal and dissappointing. No juices. Basically bread butter, 1 bananna, 2 tangerenes and 2 soft apples. Towels were like sandpaper. Place was clean. Host always available and helpful.

The B and B at Fort Place Staten Island was a great place to stay. My room was actually almost like a little apartment with a large master bedroom, my own kitchen and access to a lounge room. The only thing that my little " home" was lacking was a microwave oven as I couldn't get the oven to work. The hosts were very helpful and really made me feel welcome and the location was fantastic. There were plenty of eating options nearby and within a 5-10 min walk. Finally it was also a 10 min walk down to the free Staten Island ferry to Manhatten New York a trip I made twice in my 4 days.

Very convenient to the Staten Island Ferry terminal for free ferry trips to Manhattan area. Plenty of restaurant options within a few minutes walk. No usable wifi in the room but it was available in the guest lounge.

This traditionlly built 1920's house has been lovingly maintained & restored. The artwork around the property, I assume is the work of the owner and although may not be to everyone's taste, I found interesting and a nice homely touch. The continental breakfast was sufficient, and beautifuly presented. It was very comfortable and relaxing. It is situated in an ideal location for a short walk to the free ferry to Manhatten Island and onto main New York city centre attractions.

I liked staying at the Fort Place Bed and Breakfast. It was really close to the ferry, which was what I liked best about it. The breakfast was very nice, and was always on the table at 7:30 AM, so I was able to start my day with a nice cup of coffee, some fruit, and bread. My only complaints were that it could have used a few air fresheners, because the room smelled a bit "old". We only got one key for the house. This became problematic fast, because I stayed out late and almost couldn't get back into the house. I gave the key to the person I was staying with, since they returned earlier. The microwave was situated on a shelf that was high up, so I could barely reach it. From what I could see, it wasn't cleaned in a while. I dreaded taking a shower because of how slippery the tub was. I wished there was a bath mat in there. Other than that, it was really nice. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The room was left alone in my absence, and it was a pleasant week.

We were on a road trip from Nova Scotia to New York for Easter Weekend and stayed for two nights at Fort Place Bed & Breakfast. It is the best value you can get for visiting New York City. It is only a few minutes walking from the ferry to Manhattan. The rooms are spacious and clean. It is not a fancy B&B by any means, but is clean and has everything you need. Paul the own is amazing and will assist you with anything you need. The morning breakfast was very nice and included a fresh bagel, coffee/tea and fresh fruit. Good way to kick off your day.

The Fort Pl Bed & Breakfast is a great location. Just 3 blocks from the Staten Island ferry port. There is a grocery across the street and a fridge in the B&B. Host told us about Pier 76 restaurant nearby and we loved it so much we ate the 4 times. We had the top floor and it was quiet (except for occasional street noise) and it could easily accommodate a family of 5. The included breakfast was enough to get the day going. Wi-fi was great in the downstairs living room, but don't count on it on the 3rd floor. We will definitely stay here again if we are in NYC in the future.

Although the location and house was adequate, the management created an atmosphere of abuse, intimidation and indifference to our needs. My wife and I were traveling separately from the US and Canada and had travel problems. Paul, the owner, said they were not of his concern and threatened to charge us extra because I dared to call him 3 times (no later than 9PM on a Friday night) to inform him of changes. I never felt a need to leave a B&B by sneaking out so as not to come into contact with the owner. The house was very nice and spacious for our needs. However, the bathroom lacked privacy curtains to shield us from the outside street, where many people walked. I felt the blurb on the site was very misleading. A view of the city implied NY, not a working class neighborhood that could have been anywhere in the US. The breakfast was continental, not at all advertised as such. To us, a breakfast at a B&B implied sitting down with other guests sharing a ‘typical’ choice of breakfast foods. I would recommend this place only if the management was different.

Great affordable place to stay. This was my first time staying at a bed & breakfast and the experience was excellent; the room was large, clean, and comfortable. Also, though it is in Staten Island, the bed & breakfast is just a 5 minute walk from the Staten Island Ferry which offers a ferry to Manhattan every 30 minutes (the ferry trip trip takes about 20 minutes, and from South Ferry in Manhattan it is easy to find a metro line to get to other parts of Manhattan or other boroughs).

A much needed change of pace from your standard hotel. The furnishings are elegant and take you back in time but not in a run down way. Beautiful throughout. The operator is very friendly and helpful but at the same time leaves you alone and it truly feels like you have the whole place to yourself

Paul was flexible gracious and unobtrusive. The rooms were very spacious. The neighborhood could get a little noisy if you're sensitive to that. The neighborhood also wasn't glamorous but that isn't what I needed. I got a great room, for a great price with parking and I was minutes from the Staten Island ferry terminal. It is an easy walk and a free ferry to end up on the south end of Manhattan. I do not think I could have found a better value.

Room was nice enough. Loved the old house. Bed was comfortable. A little odd having the shower in the kitchen but was okay. There was no coffee in room which I didn't like although there was a coffee pot. Walked across street to deli to get coffee, it opens at 6am. Never did get breakfast. Asked owner for ground coffee and made coffee in my room on second morning. Owner was nice and accommodating to us. Not sure what time breakfast was supposed to be as I couldn't find any information or a schedule.
