Palihotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

I had a very disappointing experience with the front desk service during my stay. One of the male staff members seemed to deliberately make things difficult for customers rather than helping them. His attitude was unprofessional and unwelcoming, which negatively affected my overall impression of the hotel. Hospitality should begin at the front desk, but unfortunately, that was not the case here.

the hotel itself was great. the only issue we had was the parking. we paid $65 a night there. it’s supposed to be a secure parking structure and yet we found ourselves missing 2 pairs of expensive sunglasses. center console ransacked and randomly found articles of clothing that did not belong to myself or my boyfriend. the parking structure manager did give us a full refund and said we’d be comp-ed for the next time we do visit so we appreciate that.

The elevators were worth the visit, very cool boutique hotel.

This was our second stay and we enjoyed both visits. This trip we had a king suite which was great having a sitting room separate from the bedroom for a three night stay. Both rooms were spacious and well appointed. The sitting area as a sink as well as the bedroom which was convenient for two people getting ready or to use as a wet bar. Palihotel provides all the usual toiletries and well as bathrobes which we loved! The location is safe and clean, just several vacated properties nearby. The convenience of the Saint James French Diner, restaurant/bar, makes it nice to wander down for a cocktail or meal. Their happy hour is reasonable with delicious smash burgers for $10, a specialty cocktail of the day $8, select wines $6 or a select beer $4. We visited the rooftop deck which had a great 360° view of the city and allows you to bring your own beverages and food to enjoy. A few recommendations: one trash can in a suite is not enough; an additional trash can in a suite would be more convenient. The hallway doors and elevator gate can be noisy as they don’t have soft close hinges. The staff were alway welcoming, friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

Hotel with a ton of character!

We really enjoyed our stay here. We came for a quick overnight visit and it was very centrally located. We had a minor plumbing problem in our room and they moved us immediately which was so appreciated. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. Rooftop terrace was great to hang out and relax (loved their music playlist!). We loved the architecture of the building. We will definitely be staying here again!

Great place to stay. Good location. A lot of things in walking distance, including Petco Park. Clean and safe hotel. Not too expensive.

They took a historic hotel and managed to restore and renovate it whilst keeping the same ambience. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay.

Cute hotel. Location is in the heart of the city, if that’s your thing but it got loud and didn’t have the allure you’d expect. Staff was great except that our AC unit didn’t work and after calling/texting and waiting, we ended up fixing it ourselves because it was late. Also noticed the door to our room had a larger than usual gap under it which didn’t provide the privacy I’d like but didn’t cause any “issues” I suppose. Overall, a decent stay.

Getting a bit tired although still popular with young hip couples No room maid service Breakfast limited Parking $65 per day but does include in and out valet service which was a bit slow Cashless so one can’t tip anyone easily

Elevator leaves a nice theme but doors very heavy and not loading friendly, Rooms r very very small. No refrigerator or microwave. Stair case very complicated on how it wraps around from floor to floor. Lobby looks old and dingy.. Positive side staff extremely friendly and helpful. The beds extremely comfortable.

Lovely historic hotel with charm for days in the perfect location. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the attached restaurant was delicious. The rooftop terrace was also a great perk. The twin elevators were once the fastest in the world and a fun taste of history. Only complaint was how thin the walls are. The constant door slamming of the other rooms and elevator shook our door violently and I could hear an entire phone conversation from our neighbor. Our room was well appointed but teeny tiny, which is expected for a historic hotel. I would absolutely stay here again.
