Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy Greektown Apartments

...Difficult time setting up reservation ...Wasn't told about large festival so streets blocked off ...Shower floor wasn't cleaned ...Remote had NO batteries so could only watch 1 station on the TV Not a good experience-should have stayed at a hotel

The location was great for us. Close to where my daughter works and easy access to the Blue Line. I don't mind the lack of direct contact with staff people and we didn't have any unmet needs. It was very stormy the first night we were there and the windows made a great deal of noise. The storm abated the second night and it was much quieter.

I was in the mood to walk, so I put on my sneakers and did just that. The property is a little off the beaten track, and I was not that impressed with Greek Town, but I would stay again because the property itself was quite nice.

I loved how easy it was to find and the instructions to access was easy to follow

Everything was Excellent! The property was beautiful and most of all very CLEAN!!! The way everything was set up on site , to check-in and check-out was a very seamless process. The property was also very spacious, the beds were very big in size, super comfy, and having the three bathrooms in each bedroom was a such a plus. Greek neighborhood was a wonderful and smart location, everything is walking distance: for any coffee connoisseurs: Ground up Coffee is superb, Target is only a couple blocks down. My three kids age ranging 11-12 and hubby felt very safe walking around. As far as parking there’s no parking garage but we were able to find nearby meter parking. 3 hrs was the limit until 10 pm however was able to find great free parking spots going towards H mart grocers. Overall, first time experience with Sonder properties truly exceeded my family and I’d expectations. All well worth it and would love to use Sonder again for future vacation stays. my experience with Sonder was pretty terrible. TLDR: They charge hotel prices, but their corporate presence, cleanliness, and customer service have a "hotel without the hospitality" feel. On my first day, I got a nasty message from their customer service that there was a noise complaint for my apartment. I was not in the unit, so this scared me badly. I thought someone had broken in. I responded to the rep, and they quickly retracted. I asked what happened, and there was no follow up. As other reviewers have stated, the entrance feels a little unsafe, so the whole situation was unnecessarily alarming. I wouldn't have been as worried if I hadn't been traveling alone. The building also opens on a sketchy alley in the back with no locked door. As far as cleanliness, the halls are dirty and smell of chemicals. The shower in my unit was moldy. Small things like asking about amenities took over 12 hours to get a straight response from customer service. I kept getting "We'll update you" or "we are coordinating now" responses, and then radio silence until I followed up, inevitably having to repeat myself because there were "no notes." . My reservation required me to switch units, and they couldn't offer a luggage solution for the 4ish hour window. Even that was fine, but it took them 2 days and multiple follow ups to finally respond with that negative.

LOCATION was terrific - central and close to all our 'outings'. Downside was NOT being able to control the thermostat. And NO response to any of our efforts to contact the property manger(s).

Room was comfy. Great location with cute cafe annd bar across the street. Very close to work in the West Loop. It is so nice to have a closer and a kitchen! Stairs were a challenge…not recommended for people who cannot lug their bags up multiple flights of stairs. The front door of the building was propped open one evening, which felt insecure. The bathroom has mold growing around the base boards and shower. Some of the kitchen utensils are worn out and need replacement (hot water pot, fridge water filter).

My stay was excellent. The room was clean and up to date. I had everything I needed, except for an elevator. Lucky a gentleman help me carry my luggage to the 3rd floor. The stairway is very scary when you have luggage. Otherwise, my stay was great and I’d book again.

Positives: unit was clean, nice. Big windows and tall ceilings, airy, updated. Negatives: No elevator or lobby. Must lug your suitcase all the way up the steps. No bedroom TV and no full length mirror, which are must haves for me when I am traveling. Lastly, missing some safety elements like an inside lock. There was also a group of men hanging out outside of the outside door the entire stay. Both nights, as a female I didn't feel totally safe, especially without a lobby/doorman or interior lock. Although it was clean and nice, I will not be staying again.

Our stay was amazing! It felt like our home away from home. The property is located within walking distance to many restaurants and grocery stores. Be prepared to walk up stairs to get to the unit :)

El departamento es hermoso sólo que se debe tener en cuenta que hay muchísimas escaleras para llegar al departamento y no hay elevador. El palier y las escaleras huelen a humedad pero el departamento por dentro es hermoso.

The whole transaction was easy and seamless, the price was just right, and the apartment was spotless, very nicely decorated, and extremely comfortable. I felt right at home there, and it would be my first choice if I ever needed to stay over in that area again.

The openness of the property, it was a really nice feeling.

The room was nice, clean and comfy. The stairs to get to the room were awful. We had 4 flights of stairs( no elevator). The worst trying to haul bags up that. The room wasn’t ready at 4 when we were supposed to check in. There was a man still in the room cleaning and since there is no lobby or anything there is no one to complain to. You can message someone but good luck getting a quick response. I’m just thankful we didn’t have any real problems to deal with. Also the air conditioner made a loud “THUMP” every time it finished running.

Great location and the apartment was spotless! We were there during the Greek Festival and even though there was live music and lots of people, it was always quiet in the apartment. The only slight downside was that the stairs were steep and there was no elevator. Not a problem except when you're lugging a suitcase or groceries up the stairs. But that was a small price to pay for everything else that was so great.

It was still being cleaned when we arrived even though we were there after check in time. I think she was rushed because it wasn’t totally cleaned. The fold out couch sheets were dirty and had to be washed before we could use them. Little things like hair in the drawers and fruit loops on the ground. BUT beautiful property and area. Easy to access and would stay again.
