Sonesta Simply Suites Detroit Ann Arbor

I found the accommodation to be excellent! I felt at home, with all the comforts I expected. Comfortable bed and pillows. Good-sized bathroom with products provided by the hotel (the shower had problems for two days, but nothing that compromised the overall rating). Very well-equipped kitchen with everything you need. Quiet and airy accommodation. And the paintings of the dogs are a special charm. My only regret is that there was no garbage collection day.

It was quiet, and the room was very clean.

Hotel had funny smells in different places. Some of it was cleaning supplies used and some could have been pets. But it was not clean. Carpets in downstairs hallway were very dirty. Dishes in room all needed washed before use (some had visible bits of food on the outside but were put away in cabinets. Could use overall renovation. Shower water pressure was very low. Staff were helpful (gave us a higher floor room when room on first floor had funny smells).

Only stayed for one night but it was long enough to notice that this place is long overdue for a renovation. The furniture is all scuffed up and the couch makes a terrible noise when you sit down on it. The climate control is a joke. It's like having a turbine engine in the room.

Always clean, comfortable, quiet. Kitchenette & so many items to use/borrow if needed is great, as are free washer & dryers available 24/7. Sometimes a wait on desk clerk but always because they're busy with keeping the property up to good standards! Never seen them them sloughing off. Always busy and super friendly!

Laundry and kitchen very nice perk.

The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The hotel was clean and offered a free laundry room and cooking utensils. It was located next to plenty of food locations and was an overall pleasant stay. My only complaint was having to get new keycards every couple of days because they would stop working. Overall a great place to stay and I would definitely recommend it!

The parking lot entrance asphalt has large car sized hole and assorted craters. The owners have let this deteriorate to an unsafe and hazardous state for at least a year.

Hey, these folks know how to run a hotel. Kudos to them. One suggestion is to put an inexpensive arm chair. Unless sleeping, can only tolerate lying down for a while.

Our icemaker did not work. The leather chair had a rip in the right arm.

Nice experience

A man unlocked my door and walked into my room! We were both given keys to the same room. And I left right away and booked another hotel. To start, when I walked in, the receptionist didn’t acknowledge me and then acted like I was putting her out. After the man unlocked the door and walked in to the room, I was so upset, I said he should stay and I was leaving. I talked to the receptionist again and she said that my correct room was different and apologized but didn't make me feel safe. I said I wanted my whole refund and she said since I booked through a 3rd party. I’d have to talk to them. I called Expedia and they talked to her and said they would get back to me within 72 hrs. I hadn’t heard back so I called the hotel. The manager said she had no idea this happened and the receptionist never put it in her notes or alerted her. So if I hadn’t called back, this would have never been dealt with. I was given a full refund, but I will never stay at this place again. This is the 2nd time I have had a bad experience with Sonesta brand hotels. This is ranked as a 2 star on Google, so I don't know how it is 3 on here. The hotel smelled musty and had a bad paint job covering up previous paint. How have people given this place good reviews is beyond me. The room was rundown and not what the pictures show. The staff was not dress in ratty t-shirts. The professionalism was terrible, until I talked to the manager.
