Amazing, budget-friendly, family-friendly, cozy and calm away from home. Breakfast was better than a traditional continental one. Dining area was conveniently located next to the pool. Very clean in all public areas. Convenient to downtown, public transportation, and beach. View was amazing from the balcony!!

The place is very close to the ocean (they could work on adding a save path down the hill if they know that guests use that route regularly). People at the hotel are very friendly and tried to help. We parked our car after checking out and they were cool about it. We enjoyed our stay.

This was my first time booking at this hotel. Check in process was smooth at the front desk and the room was very spacious and roomy with a comfy bed! I also enjoyed the view outside with options for dark curtains which I loved to make the room darker so I could sleep better. Continental breakfast they provided was delicious filled with different options such as pastries, yogurt, oatmeal and even eggs cooked as omelet one day and next day was sunny side up! I would highly recommend staying here

this is not a resort hotel, even if it has a pool. The elevator takes forever, the room was in bad condition like peeling paint and dirty glass doors. The bed was not made on day 2 although towels were replaced. You get what you pay for... and they do charge you for internet and parking. I'd pay more for better accommodations next Tim.

Had the king bed with ocean view room with a kitchenette which was perfect to cook a small meal in. Room was nicely set up and spacious. Hotel sign entrance is very small and hidden so makes it hard to find the location which is up on a hill behind tall bushes. Pool area landscaping needs cleaned up but pool was nice to enjoy after a day at the beach. Stairway access down to the road to walk to the beach is VERY steep and is not child or elderly friendly but saves you a mile walk around the hotel entrance. Staff was less than friendly when they saw us walking in (tattoos and piercings) but were incredibly nice over the phone. Breakfast was great too! Overall would give it a 4/5 stars and would stay again if ever back in Encinitas!

We have enjoyed staying here over the years. When it was formerly a Best Western property, the amenities were nicer and the pool area was well lit at night for safety. This time, now operating as The Encinitan, it was still a nice experience, however, the pool area was not lit at night so it felt unsafe to consider doing an evening swim (especially with kids on the property) and there was no Pool towels easily available by the pool as there use to be. The staff, easy convenient breakfast, and parking still make it a nice overall stay with so many enjoyable things to do nearby. When kids are happy, we are happy too and so it made for our stay all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend having complimentary water bottles available as before as there is no water filling station nearby the rooms. Only a small carafe available in the office lobby which is a trek if your room is on the other side.

The amenities sounded great - ocean views, balcony, pool and hot tub but the quality of the location was disappointing. The floors of the room left our feet dirty, the shower didn’t drain and there was nobody onsite to fix it and the manager wasn't able to find another room for us and there were socks found in the room from the previous guests. The onsite breakfast was mediocre and the lobby couches smelled loudly. It was convenient located to the beaches and restaurants and great to have even a small fitness center.
