What Guests Say About Their Stay

This is the most luxurious hotel I have ever seen. It was designed by John Jacob Astor who unfortunately was lost in the Titanic disaster. But thankfully his beautiful hotel keeps his legacy alive. The architecture is absolutely jaw dropping. You will feel like you went back in time because the decor and amenities look like they are brand new even though they are intricately ornate Edwardian designs. This hotel looks like it's from a fairy tale both inside and out.Astor thought of everything. Every little detail in this place is impeccable. The staff is extremely friendly and thoughtful and their service is excellent. They carry your luggage and walk you to the building with an umbrella if it's raining. They carry your luggage up to your room. The concierge desk helps you with whatever you need. It was my mother and my birthday and they were so thoughtful and hooked us up at another restaurant for her birthday dinner. They gave us a personalized birthday card and treats. They gave us a tour of the basement which has historical artifacts and photos or autographs of many famous celebrities who came to stay to perform at the venue in a previous decade. If you are a fan of luxury, history or VIP treatment this is the place for you. If you want to experience luxury

We have stayed at the st Regis two times prior to this recent stay. Our flight was cancelled to Toronto and the hotel we were staying at couldn’t accommodate us as our room was not available. Anyway, we decided to book the St Regis as we have enjoyed staying there in the past. This time however, the room was not to our standards at all. The shower flooded. Our rooms decor was really worn and dated. Their breakfast was lack luster. The bellmen and doormen were great. The front desk upon check in was not very welcoming. We wouldn’t be staying here again I’m afraid. For the price you pay vs the service you receive doesn’t balance out. The St Regis should be downgraded to a 4 star property rather than a 5.

Check in staff was not friendly or accommodating. Requested down alternative pillows at check in and had to call at 11 pm that same night because they still had not been delivered. Room staff very kind. Doormen never at front door to assist during stay in getting car service . Concierge Pete was great. Destination fee add ons not really usable at $50 per day. Because booked through Hotels.com you don’t receive points for status. Not worth $1100 per night, not even close.

I had lost my debit card while traveling to this place and they failed to uphold my reservation. I still did have valid ID and the room was paid for. They did not offer any solution except to cancel my reservation. I was left in new york the entire night without accomodations or any way to return home until the next day. I am entirely disgusted at the way I was treated by the staff and management at this place, and entirely disappointed that the ownership lacks the decency to handle a simple situation as this one.

The property is lovely, but the experience suffered. I spent two nights in NYC. Here were the problems: (1) On the first night, a Bose radio went off prior to sunrise. I couldn't turn it off without moving furniture and unplugging it. And then trying to get back to sleep. (2) I was unable to control the thermostat so the room was much warmer than I wanted. I asked the staff to turn it down while I was out and they turned it down to 60 degrees. (3) Finally, when I left, I asked for my car to be pulled around. I gave them the requested 20 minutes notice, but waited 20 additional minutes for the car to come around due to an error at the desk. I know these are first world problems (believe me, I know), but you're paying the St. Regis to eliminate these errors, not to make them. I doubt I'll return.

Until the lobby/dining refurbishments are finished, the hotel has nothing to offer but a long walk through basement hallway. Seriously. The cost of this misery remained astonishingly high. My room, during a period when the hotel was not at full occupancy, was on the third floor facing an alleyway. You shouldn’t have to complain to receive a modicum of respect
