Been using Expedia since my military service days in the early 2000's and first time i have an issue with my stay. My flight was arriving at 6am, therefore, i reached out to the property to request an early check-in. I anticipated the need for it after an 18hr commute with a pregnant wife, a five year old and a 73 year old. I was charged $150 for an early check-in, arrived early and my room was still occupied by previous renter. When asked for help at the front desk. They informed me that i was booked in a private unit and they had nothing to do with those units. When spoke managing agent she claimed she didnt know what was happening but ended up staging me in a temporary unit. When my room was finally ready at about 2pm, i noticed it had two full size beds but NO sofa bed like my booking showed i was supposed to get. When i asked the agent about a refund of my early check-in fee because i was not able to use the unit early and because the wasn't a sofabed, she said she was going to reach out to the owner and manager about it. She called back to ask if i left the "staging unit" as i found it, told her yes, with the exception of the trash in the bathroom because we all used it, she asked if i could go back and empty the trash can so they didnt have to pay a cleaning person to do so since the room was already cleaned. I asked about my refund again, the woman said if i dont empty the trash can she wont work on my refund.

I usually do no reviews but for this property I’ll take a few minutes. I reserved a unit at this place because it was the only place that took 1 adult and 5 children in a single unit. I come to Waikiki on a yearly basis but this year I decided to take my children. I was happy because I didn’t have to reserve 2 units for a party of 6. Anyway, 2 days prior to arrival I received the check in notice. I realize then that i had to do a self check in. We get to the unit and found the place with no issues. I was given a lock box code prior to arrival and I was ok with that. I inputed the code and had severe difficulties. The lock box was old and rusty already. After several attempts, it finally opened and got the keys. I opened the door and wow, I was shocked. The unit smelled really funky and i looked around and was really disgusted and upset because the unit was so outdated and bedsheets and towels looked so worn out. The bathroom was so disgusting. Stains all over the tub and shower curtains had a funky smell and the discoloration was extreme. The toilet had unflushed urine in it. I called management and advised them that the unit was dirty and I was told they would call the cleaners and clean again but no one ever showed up. I guess I got what I paid for. Never again!

Red flags when the property wants $450 damage deposit a month and a half before trip. Called Expedia to express my concern over this. Place was horrible, never kept up. Doors off the closet and set behind the couch, no toilet paper or paper towels. No hand towels or washcloths, no dish towels either. Big tube tv that only shows snow. Sliding door that can't be opened by one person, fire detector removed from wall. No coffee maker or toaster in the kitchen, Was told I could go buy toilet paper and towels and be reimbursed. Furniture looked to be original and the place was built in the late 70s. The whole thing seemed very shady needing a $450 damage deposit for a condo, we took pics of the place just in case. Received email from hello relaxation, the place handling the unit informing me that the cleaners couldn't find the parking pass(it was left right where they placed it) and that it would be a $250 charge and one of the cleaners was allegedly cut by some broken glass. What a sham never touched the parking pass and never broke any glass either. Canceled my card with the bank right away, especially after reading other peoples account of the same organization online. People not getting their damage deposit back. Expedia shouldn't be in business with this place. I'm worried that my identity may be compromised. I won't be using Expedia after this.

It was a nice size for the amount of people staying there. Carpets filthy and found dirty q- tip with blood u set shiba bed. No soap ants face and hand towels for bathing. Lots of broken things. TV didn't work. Lighting bad.

good location but the apartment, The condominium has not even remotely similar to the photos they promote, very dirty, old with doors guarded as storage, dirty carpet with stains, humidity in the ceiling, missing the smoke alarm with the wires outside, we got 3 towels, cabinets Kitchen are for change, the stove is super soiled.

At least thirty things broken in this room. Very unsafe and unfunctional. We are not classy or high maintenance people but this is a law suit waiting to happen. I’m just sick about paying so much money for this place when there were no trash bags or soap or towels, broken bed, doors, full rust d fridge. We were totally deceived and might purse legal action.

This room is old/tired and needs to be done up. Room was dirty. Kitchen sinks were blocked the whole time we were there 9 days. Couldnt use the kitchen. kitchen utensils were all mis-matched, 3 cups/5glasses/little amount of plates all odd and old ,no teatowls/old cutlery all mis-matched. old worn towels, no beach/pool towels. all odd. Old TV and old fridge. must be the original fridge when first opened. Couldn't get any satisfaction through Expedia emailed and phoned many times and was told someone would come from the hotel to unblock the kitchen sink. No-one came. we went to reception and was told that because it was not part of the Hotel they wanted nothing to do with it. I did get a partial refund but it did not compensate as we had to eat every meal out which I did not budget for. PS i still have not had the refund yet presume i will get. dissappointed with service and my stay in this room. Could be bought upto date easily and little cost. New dinnerset, cups , glasses, towles etc from Walmart peanuts. Also hole in bathroom wall where either the bath or toilet is leaking. Yuck. unhappy customer

Arrived in Honolulu still had no check in instructions, called them and was informed that I would have to check out a day early due to maintenance being scheduled for the room. When I asked what they were going to do about it she informed me they would try to find another room at the property for me. The day before departure I received an email stating that I would have to be out by noon that day and that they would refund me $171. The next cheapest thing I could find cost me over $400 for one night. Management would not call or speak to me I had to deal with a middle man. Scam. If you go to the Waikiki banyan they will turn you away. Security will be called on you. The phone number on receipt from hotels.com will bring you to an unprofessional lady that answers and can’t give you straight answers. Now I have to deal with credit card company. For a room we didn’t even get to stay in.

I didn't know this complex was owned by a several different companies and private owners. I thought I had booked Aston Waikiki Banyan which is a hotel operator and has a front desk downstairs. My unit had a broken closet door which had come off the rail, cheap quality and worn out linens, stained carpet, old furniture, original kitchen and no phone or no cleaning service available. I had to spend the first few hours after arrival calling Expedia customer service in India who was communicating with a company who manages this unit in LA. Expedia told me to speak to them directly so I had to use my mobile to call them who offered another apartment in a few blocks away which looked okay in the photos so we agreed to take it but when I get there finally around 8pm we found it like an old motel apartment where hippies stay and hear loud music from another room. Not a place for family like us. I was with my elderly parents and two kids. The room was terrible too, it was renovated but still had a old feature and original bathroom. So we had to go back to another unit in Banyan which they offered but only available for a few days. We were tired, hadn't eaten or taken a shower since arrival and the kids were crying. When we checked in, we found the unit wasn't cleaned after previous occupants checked out. It was already 10pm and the cleaner didn't come so we had to go back to the first unit I booked. We had to change the unit two times during our stay in Banyan. Wasted a lot of time.

Hello! We have booked our stay at the banyon thru orbitz many times and have never been unhappy. This trip did not start out so good. The first apartment that the company had us stay in, which I think was room 907, did not have any power. After a few phone calls back and forth with the rep in LA they moved us to room 1111. We did recieve a call that same night that they were trying to fix the power and wanted us to move back into our first room in a couple days. I told them that it was unreasonable since we had moved into room 1111, had groceries and we would have to move it all to the other room. The company in LA called me agian 2 times but never left a message and I never heard from them again. Room 1111 was the typical room we have had at the banyon, 2 queen beds and a fold out couch. This works very well for my family of 4, I have two teen age boys that are tall. Room 907 would not have met our needs. It was advertised as one that sleeps 4, but that needs to be clarified that it will sleep 2 adults in the queen or king bed, not sure which it was, and 2 small children on the futon couch. There was no way my two teen boys would have fit on that small short couch.

Cons: check in was not really smooth, room was still being cleaned, no lockbox but combination lock as instructed on check in details. Closet was broken, toaster not working. Pillows could be better, room need to be updated. Pros: parking is free, 4 hr limit for guests. Cooking our own meals was key especially with kids. Walking distance to beach, shops. Nice location of hotel where you don't have to go through the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Enjoyed the tennis and basketball half court. They should have the court open at least till 730-800. Overall good time, would come back if they could update the rooms that would be great.
