Room was spacious and bright, bed was comfy. The hotel's bar and dining areas are a highpoint. They are stylish and cosy with lots of light and greenery. Good for both business and leisure travellers I'd say. Also a lovely location, a short walk from the hustle and bustle with a lovely "rus in urbe" vibes. The one snag was the breakfast which felt a little underwhelming.

Room wasn't bad. However, the casting function on the TV didn't work properly. So, Xin Xin and I couldn't watch the Halloween movies and TV shows we had planned. She's soooo important to me so felt really bad about it :(

★☆☆☆☆ A Masterclass in Disorganisation at The River Lee Where to even begin with my stay at The River Lee Hotel? What should have been a pleasant getaway quickly devolved into a cascade of failures, from the moment I arrived to the moment I left—a perfect storm of corporate indifference and operational chaos. The check-in process set the tone for the entire debacle. I wasn't given a room number, merely told I was "on the third floor." My key card, when I checked it, was blank. An ominous and bewildering start. I then inquired about the VIP perks that Hotels.com had explicitly promised. The receptionist seemed completely unaware. After I had to follow up—a pattern was emerging—she vaguely mentioned a possible €20 voucher for the restaurant. Then, in a moment of pure farce, what I presume was the manager intervened to inform her, I was, in fact, not entitled to it. The room itself was clean, I'll grant them that. But "basic" would be a generous description. No mini-bar, and the toilet flush was a pathetic, cheap thing that required several attempts to complete its one job. The main reason I booked The River Lee was for the pool. This was the crowning disappointment. After a 25-minute wait with other fr

I recently stayed at The River Lee in Cork while travelling for work, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful, which made my stay really enjoyable. A special mention to the gentleman from the restaurant (I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name!) - your service was excellent. You were attentive, professional, and made the dining experience feel personal and welcoming. It’s rare to receive that level of genuine hospitality, and it really stood out. The reception team were equally fantastic. I arrived early, around 9 a.m., after travelling for work, and one of the receptionists went above and beyond to get me into my room as soon as possible. While waiting, she kindly suggested using The Hub in the hotel so I could work comfortably until the room was ready - such a thoughtful touch that made a big difference to my day. Overall, this hotel offers a great mix of comfort, professionalism, and warmth. The service from both reception and restaurant staff was outstanding, and I’ll definitely stay again when I’m next in Cork.
