This hotel was recommended by a friend who lives in Rio and I understand why. The location is near the Ipanema beach, safer than Copacabana, the rooms and facilities are nice and clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We reserved the 6 hour city/Cristo tour with them which was a good choice. We also enjoyed the spa for massages which were also very nice.

Hotel was very comfortable and walking distance to the beach. A lot of cute cafes and good restaurants in the area that are also walking distance. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Highly recommend booking here.

The Mar Ipanema has a very good location; near shopping and just two blocks off the beach. Good value, clean, quiet, comfortable, nice restaurant, great exersize room, friendly staff.

Hotel was great so was the staff

We stayed in a regular room, everything was good but the AC. Not sure if it was because it was hot outside but AC was at 17° C and it felt like 23 C. A central metal piece of the window was loose and it make some noise as the AC was an old model and it shakes while it was working. Real highlight here is that everything else was fantastic.

Easy to find , good location and has options around hotel

My recent stay at the Mar Ipanema Hotel was nothing short of a disaster. The lack of cleanliness was immediately evident, with mold visibly growing in the bathroom and windows that were covered in grime, making it nearly impossible to see outside. It's apparent that cleanliness is severely neglected here. The noise level was intolerable. There is ongoing construction on the 5th floor during the day, and the loud noise reverberates throughout the entire hotel. Finding any peace or quiet is out of the question with the incessant banging and drilling. Additionally, the hotel is situated in an unsafe area. I felt uneasy walking around the neighborhood, particularly after dark. In conclusion, I would never consider staying at the Mar Ipanema Hotel again. It was an extremely disappointing and unpleasant experience. Do yourself a favor and choose a different place to stay.

I recently stayed at the Mar Ipanema Hotel and it was an absolute nightmare. First and foremost, the cleanliness of the hotel is appalling. There is mold growing in the bathroom, and the windows are so filthy you can barely see through them. It’s clear that housekeeping is not a priority here. The noise levels are unbearable. There is continuous construction on the 5th floor during the day, and the noise permeates through the entire hotel. It's impossible to get any rest or relaxation with the constant hammering and drilling. Moreover, the area around the hotel feels unsafe. I did not feel comfortable walking around the neighborhood, especially at night. Overall, I would never stay at the Mar Ipanema Hotel again. It was a deeply disappointing and unpleasant experience. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay.

Very nice hotel

Good location -near the beach , Lagoa, shopping ,and plenty of nearby bars and restaurants . Beach towels and umbrella provided. Rooftop bar area a bit disappointing.

Location location location, at the right place close to everything in Ipanema. Small spaces but good and clean enough.

Way better than my previous hotel …. Sanitary …& quiet … staff was helpful and very pleasant … The gym was fantastic as well as the breakfast although I wish they had mango slices but not a big deal …Wish I had stayed here for my entire trip instead but I’ll know for next time which will be soon anyway

Our stay was great and the staff was great. My only issues were water leaking from the AC unit and somewhere else in the bathroom causing some wet areas on the floor.

Stay away! I booked 2 rooms (connecting), they instead gave me a single room with a double bed. Bait and switch by the hotel. Terrible manager on site, did not care. Had to call credit card to dispute charge. Left the property and booked another. Saw another person complaining while I was there too. Seams like a typical story at this hotel. So many other options in Rio. Pick another!!

this was an amazing hotelnyobstay. First time in Brasil and walking distance was so convevience and the staff was so lovely. Will def reccome this hotelnyo family and friends. The restaurant Pato was delicious.
