Brilliant location for a short stay in Stockholm. Room was on the smaller side but wonderful views. Our waiter, Channa, at breakfast each day was so lovely and warm - he is an asset to the hotel. Would recommend!

Hotel diplomat is an anchor establishment asking one of the most exclusive stretches of waterfront property in Stockholm. Upon walking in, we were greeted with beautiful, classic features that made it instantly feel warm and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in what we later learned were a wide range of languages. Murtaza greeted us in English and gave us the lay of the land. After checking in, we took the quaint little elevator up to our room and marveled at the beautiful woodwork and stained glass adorning the stairwell that spiralled up around the elevator. The room was perfectly sized, with heated floors in the bathroom and wooden accents everywhere. A few stairs led down to the bed, where the vaulted ceilings made the room feel large. A balcony door faced the waterfront and let us step out trip take in all it's beauty. My favorite was seeing it lit up at night. The stairs in the room were a little difficult to see at night but we quickly adapted. We explored the city in our three days here and the location was perfectly central for all our adventures. We walked a bit, took cars a few times as well as the local transit. When it was time to check out, we were pleasantly surprised that Murtaza hooked us up with a late checkout. That let us explore the city in the morning without having to stress about our luggage. It was the perfect was to wrap up our stay in Stockholm. The team here is great, the food in the restaurant was delicious at dinner and breakfast and made us feel right at home during our stay.

Price/performance is not right in this hotel! We were guests at Hotel Diplomat for 6 nights to have a nice holiday in Stockholm. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the hotel. 📍The location: We chose the hotel for its central location but especially on weekends, night turns into day. Due to the hotel's location directly on Strandvägen, the street in front of the hotel is haunted by roaring cars for small/large show rides until late at night. Furthermore, the garbage is picked up every morning around 6:00-6:30, it is so loud that you can no longer sleep with the windows open. 🛌Room: We had a balcony room facing the side courtyard on the 4th floor. The room is decorated in a classic style and was okay. There were opened and used bottles in the minibar upon arrival. The room was always clean and towels changed daily. 🍳🧇Breakfast and Service: The breakfast buffet is very modest for a 5-star hotel and there are no vegan alternatives. Coffee, eggs and omelette must be ordered from the staff. On several days, we waited up to 30 minutes for the egg dishes we ordered. The tables next door were not cleared the whole time and to get another coffee, it also took ages for the service to show up. ❌Summary: ⚫️ If you like to have bad nights due to loud cars in front of the hotel => book Hotel Diplomat ⚫️ If you like to pay a high room rate just due to tradition => book Hotel Diplomat ⚫️ If you like to wait 30 minutes for your ordered omlette and a small breakfast buffet => book Hotel Diplomat If not, choose another Hotel for your Stockholm trip.

I had high expectations for Hotel Diplomat Stockholm given its location and reputation, but the experience was disappointing. I waited around three hours for my room with little communication, and when I was finally checked in, the room had clear cleanliness issues (hair on the bed, stained carpet, and surfaces not properly cleaned). The only solution offered was to re-clean the same room, which did not inspire confidence. The hotel did offer to move me to Villa Dagmar, but this would have involved a higher rate and additional waiting time for a room to be ready, which was not a practical solution at that point. To their credit, the authorization on my card was released promptly after I chose not to stay. However, the overall experience—particularly around hygiene and service recovery—fell well below expectations.
