This was the 2nd time that I stayed here and it was awesome.

The Sonesta Hotel in the Shipyard Plantation on Hilton Head Island was crowded and made worse by construction/revitalization areas forcing a large number of guests into an even smaller area. The room was good and clean but nothing fantastic. The staff was very pleasant and made a genuine effort to make my stay a good one. Unfortunately, the construction was an inconvenience and had I known, I would not have stayed at the Sonesta Hotel.

Nice location

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were very professional and customer service was excellent.

Love a beach side resort. The work they've done here over the years to upgrade it has been remarkable. This resort has almost every thing one needs without having to ever leave unless you want different dining, which was a tad expensive.

Parking during the latter half of i the stay was iffy due to a wedding being held at the resort. Self parking lot is a bit tight to navigate with a large vehicle.

My wife and I were celebrating our 55th anniversary. When I booked the trip, the room stated pool view, but upon arrival, the representative, who was very professional and helpful, seemed to be worried about the distance to the room and he offered us a room on the 5th floor. Once we got the room we realized the distance was too far. He then moved us to the third floor. Neither the fifth floor or third floor had a pool view only tops of buildings. With all this said, we did enjoy our trip, but at our age, we may not return to this hotel. Not easily accessible for us.

Absolutely perfect for a family vacation. Great pool and beach access.

We had a great time, its under construction which we knew however it did make the pool crowded,I’m sure it’s going to be beautiful when finished and we will definitely be back to see how it turned out! parking lot was always full which became Frustrating, they could also use more food options, and possibly sell some alcohol, like wine and beer in the little store in lobby

The staff were wonderful, dinning fantastic and the beach access was great. We really enjoyed our vacation at the resort along with the whole area

If this property is four star, I am pope Francis! Way overpriced, below average on everyhing but mostly a borderline dirty room.

The staff was very pleasant and so helpful. Patrick Simpson at the front desk was outstanding. Patrick took time out to assist us with our reservations. He did not hesitate to help resolve our conflicts. It was a pleasure dealing with Patrick. Our stay at the resort was very relaxing and enjoyable. Everyone was so polite. We highly recommend this resort.

Clean. Convenient to ocean

The great majority of the trip was lovely. The room was a good size, the pool area was very clean. Access to the beach, and the beach itself, was amazing. Downside: The construction in the pool area that was supposed to be completed by mid- June was not, so the noise was a bit distracting. My biggest issue was checkout, There was an additional $103 charged to my room. The front desk clerk informed me it was breakfast from the pool bar. I said we didn't order anything from the pool bar. She did not budge. She informed me the charge was made. I said let me ask my daughter if they made the room charge. The clerk (Jelin) said I could ask her but she already charged my credit card. No apology was offered when they discovered the wrong room number was charged. Instead, I was dismissed by another front desk clerk (Douglas), who waved me away and said he would charge the correct room. I had to ask him to give me a receipt for the refund for the overcharge. The two of them then appeared annoyed when I asked them for the updated receipt I am sure people try to cheat all the time, causing them to become jaded. Unfortunately I am not one of those people.

Everything was great

Our stay at this hotel was okay, but I expected more from a resort experience. We’ve stayed at other resorts in Florida and received much better treatment and hospitality. When we arrived for check-in, no one offered any information about the resort amenities, activities, or things to do in the area — we basically had to figure everything out on our own. On the positive side, the room itself was very clean, and both the concierge and the bellman were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, the pool is quite small for a resort, and the staff working in the on-site convenience store had noticeably bad attitudes, which left a negative impression. Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but I wouldn’t choose this resort again unless improvements are made in guest communication and staff friendliness.
