Hello,
I wanted to provide some feedback regarding our overnight stay at the Comfort Inn Kenora 1230 Hwy. 17 E.
Overall, our family appreciated the hotel and the inclusive breakfast service. However, there was one interaction during breakfast today that left some members of our group feeling uncomfortable.
During the breakfast buffet, the sausages had run out and another guest asked a staff member whether more would be coming out. The staff member explained that another batch was still cooking in the oven, which was understandable. However, she then added a comment of, “I was just gone a minute, it was full and now they’re all gone.”
While this may not have been intended negatively, the tone came across as dismissive and somewhat inappropriate in a hospitality setting, particularly in front of guests. As an Asian family travelling in a larger group, some of us felt as though our party was being indirectly singled out or blamed for the food running out, which made the interaction uncomfortable.
Additionally, given that this was during a long weekend with increased travel and tourism, we would have expected the breakfast area to be better prepared for higher guest volume. Situations where food items run out can happen, but having sufficient staffing and preparation in place would likely help staff manage demand without frustration being expressed in front of guests.
I am not writing this to cause trouble for anyone.
